Bathed in devotion and serenity, Greenwood High School, Hunter Road, resonated with sacred chants and cultural grace during the auspicious celebrations of Vasant Panchami and Aksharabhyasam. The occasion was observed with profound reverence as a heartfelt tribute to Goddess Saraswati, the divine embodiment of knowledge, wisdom, and learning, reflecting the institution’s unwavering commitment to nurturing traditional values alongside holistic education.
On this sacred day, the school conducted a Vasant Panchami Puja on behalf of the institution, invoking divine blessings for the academic excellence, moral growth, and spiritual well-being of its students. The celebration was graced by the esteemed presence of the Director, Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu, whose encouragement and guidance added immense dignity and significance to the event. Parents participated with deep devotion and enthusiasm, lending warmth and spiritual fervour to the celebrations.
The programme commenced with the Deepa Prajvalana, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the removal of ignorance. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was performed by Mr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu, Director; Mr. Prabhu Kumar, General Manager; Mrs. Manjula Devi, Principal; Mr. Ravinder, Dean; Mr. Sreekanth, Vice Principal; and Mrs. Rajeshwari, ACO, marking a spiritually auspicious beginning to the programme.
The Saraswati Puja was meticulously performed amid the resonant chants of Vedic hymns and the sacred sounds of mangalavadyas, filling the campus with divine vibrations. Following the puja, a solemn Aksharabhyasam ceremony was conducted, signifying a momentous milestone as young children were ceremonially initiated into the world of learning. The children received blessings from the elders and management, making the occasion deeply spiritual and memorable for parents and attendees alike.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu eloquently spoke on the significance of Goddess Saraswati, who dispels ignorance and enlightens minds with wisdom and knowledge. He emphasized that the observance of such sacred traditions plays a vital role in instilling cultural awareness, moral values, and reverence for education, ensuring that India’s rich heritage is meaningfully passed on to future generations.
Adding splendour to the celebrations, students presented devotional songs and shlokas in praise of Maa Saraswati, followed by a graceful classical dance performance depicting the Goddess of Knowledge. These artistic presentations beautifully complemented the sacred rituals, creating a harmonious blend of devotion, culture, and artistic expression.
