Bathukamma celebrations @Greenwood Mancherial


The Bathukamma celebrations at Greenwood High School, Mancherial, were a vibrant and joyous occasion under the guidance of Principal Mr. R. Chandramohan and Vice Principal Mr. G. Tirupathi. The festivities began with each class preparing their own Bathukamma under the supervision of their class teachers, showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of the students.

As everyone gathered on the school grounds, the beautifully decorated Bathukammas were arranged on the dais. Principal Mr. Chandramohan and Vice Principal Mr. Tirupathi offered coconut and flowers to Goddess Bathukamma, invoking blessings for prosperity and happiness.



Pre-primary students from grades 1 and 2 actively participated in a special activity organized under the guidance of Mr. Mahendra and Mrs. Amitha, followed by a delightful dance performance coordinated by Mrs. Premalata and Mrs. Amitha. Students from 8th grade also presented an energetic dance, adding to the festive spirit.

Nainika and Lahari from 7th grade shared an insightful conversation on the significance of the Bathukamma festival, enriching the event with cultural and historical context. Sai Tejaswi from 9th grade and Bhuvan Teja from 8th grade further explained the medicinal values of the flowers used in Bathukamma and the nutritional benefits of the traditional food item, Sattu Pindi.

As part of the celebrations, prizes were distributed to students who excelled in the essay writing competition held on Telangana Bhasha Dinotsavam. The event was further enlivened by a dance performance by 9th-grade students, and the Principal’s speech added a special touch, emphasizing the cultural importance of Bathukamma.

The celebrations concluded with a gathering of students from pre-primary to 10th grade, singing Bathukamma songs and bringing the event to a joyful and melodious Happy Dussehra and Bathukamma!!!
