Colours of Tradition: Greenwood Hosts Inter-House Rangoli Competition

Greenwood High School, Hasanparthy, organised an Inter-House Rangoli Making Competition on 3rd January 2026 as part of its Sankranthi celebrations. The event recorded the active participation of 24 teams of girl students from Classes VII to X representing the four houses—Agni, Brahmos, Prithvi, and Thrishul, providing them with an opportunity to engage in India’s traditional art forms while encouraging creativity, collaboration, and cultural awareness.

The competition aimed to promote experiential learning by integrating art with cultural education. Students presented their artistic skills through thoughtfully designed Rangoli patterns that reflected themes of harvest, prosperity, harmony, and gratitude—values central to the Sankranthi festival.

Promoting Cultural Literacy Through Art

Rangoli making holds an important place in Indian traditions and serves as a medium to express positivity and welcome. Students used eco-friendly and traditional materials such as rice flour, coloured sand, flower petals, and natural pigments to create intricate designs. The activity reinforced respect for heritage while encouraging aesthetic sensibility and innovation among learners.

Student Participation and Team Collaboration

A total of 24 Inter-House teams participated in the competition. Each team demonstrated effective coordination, planning, and creative execution. The designs ranged from traditional Sankranthi motifs such as kites, sugarcane, lamps, and floral patterns to contemporary interpretations rooted in cultural values.

Leadership Guidance and Institutional Support

The event was successfully conducted under the guidance and encouragement of the school management and academic leadership, including Director Sri Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu, General Manager Sri A. Prabhu Kumar, Academic Principal Sri V. V. V. Naveen Kumar, Administrative Principal Sri T. Pavan Kumar, Vice Principal Sri V. Suresh Kumar, and Academic Coordinator Smt. P. Kanthi. Their continued support ensured the smooth organisation and educational value of the programme.

Assessment and Educational Outcomes
A panel of judges evaluated the Rangoli presentations based on creativity, thematic relevance, colour harmony, neatness, and overall presentation. The competition contributed to the development of life skills such as teamwork, confidence, decision-making, and appreciation of cultural diversity, in alignment with CBSE’s emphasis on holistic and competency-based education. The winners of the competition will be announced shortly, and prizes will be distributed during the Republic Day celebrations in 2026.

The event concluded on a note of enthusiasm and accomplishment, leaving students enriched with cultural understanding and creative confidence. Greenwood High School remains committed to nurturing well-rounded learners through meaningful co-curricular activities that complement academic excellence.
