From Nizam to Nation through Struggle to Success: Telangana National Integration Day Celebration@ Greenwood

On 17th September 2024, Greenwood High School, Hasanparthy, observed Telangana National Integration Day, commemorating the accession of the princely state of Hyderabad to the Indian Union in 1948. The school hosted a special assembly that featured speeches, performances, and a prize distribution ceremony, making it a meaningful event for all involved. This report outlines the key moments of the celebration, including guest appearances, speeches, and a detailed description of the awards ceremony.

Welcoming the Guest of Honor
The event commenced with a formal welcome for the school’s honorable Director, Sri. Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu,who was greeted with a guard of honor by the NCC cadets and the dignitaries Sri V.V.V. Naveen Kumar, Academic Principal; Sri T. Pavan Kumar, Administrative Principal; V. Suresh Kumar, Vice-principal; and Smt. P. Kanthi, Academic Coordinator. Following this, Director Sir proudly hoisted the National Flag, with the entire school gathered in reverence to mark the spirit of national integration.

Insights into Telangana’s History
As part of the program, Sri J. Ramesh, HOD of Telugu Department, delivered a captivating speech on the history of Telangana, focusing on the struggles under Nizam’s rule and the eventual integration with India. His eloquent narration brought to light the challenges faced by the people of Telangana and their determination to become part of the Indian Union. He also sang a self-composed song, paying tribute to the perseverance and courage of Telangana’s people, which left a lasting impression on the audience.

Inspiration from the Director’s Address
Sri. Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu delivered a motivational speech, emphasizing the importance of national unity and integration. He urged the students to draw inspiration from our Telangana’s rich history and to channel their energy into building a better future for both the state and the nation.

Prize Distribution Ceremony
The highlight of the assembly was the prize distribution ceremony, where Sri. Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu awarded certificates, badges, and trophies to students who excelled in various academic and extracurricular activities. Here are the list of competitions and the winners:

  1. Brain Hunt – 3 Winners
    This competition tested students’ logical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The winners demonstrated exceptional critical thinking and creativity in answering complex questions under time pressure.
  1. Brain Hunt – 4 Winners
    Similar to Brain Hunt – 3, this competition involved advanced analytical challenges, with the winners showcasing their deep understanding of logic, reasoning, and strategic thinking in tackling intricate puzzles.
  1. MATH aMAZE Series – 1 Winners
    This competition focused on mathematical puzzles and challenges, requiring students to solve tricky mathematical problems quickly. The winners displayed excellent mathematical skills and a strong aptitude for numbers.
  1. Surprise Test – 3 Winners
    Aimed at encouraging students to be always prepared, this surprise test assessed their knowledge of Maths Subject taught in class. The winners excelled by performing exceptionally well without prior preparation, showcasing their mastery over the subject matter.
  1. Surprise Test – 4 Winners
    Another surprise test designed to evaluate students’ subject comprehension and retention. The winners proved their ability to recall and apply learned concepts effectively under pressure.
  1. Spelling Genius – 1 Winners
    This competition tested students’ spelling and vocabulary knowledge. The winners exhibited an outstanding command of English spelling, correctly spelling challenging words and demonstrating superior language skills.
  • Recognition of the Volleyball Team
    Special accolades were also given to the Under-14 Volleyball Team, which won First Prize in the inter-school competition organized by Delhi Public School, Warangal. Team as well as Individual awards were presented to students:

  • Best Attacker Award: K. Sai Ganesh
  • Additionally, the school’s Physical Education Teacher (PET), Mr. D. Pradeep Reddy, received the Best Coach Award for his role in guiding the team to victory.

Mr. K. Varshith Rao of Class 10 secured Third Prize in 38th Telangana State Sub Junior Boys Inter District Handball Championship 2024. He received Bronze medal and merit certificate.

Conclusion
The Telangana National Integration Day celebration at Greenwood High School was an enriching and memorable event. It not only honored the state’s historical significance but also highlighted the achievements of the school’s students.
