#Greenwood High School Warangal, #Founders’ Pen

The mother tongue, the language spoken at home and inherited from one’s ancestors, holds immeasurable value in shaping an individual’s identity and fostering a profound sense of belonging. It serves as the cultural cornerstone, connecting generations and preserving heritage. Language is not merely a tool for communication; it embodies the unique traditions, customs, and wisdom passed down through centuries.

One of the pivotal roles of the mother tongue is its influence on cognitive development. Studies have shown that children who are proficient in their mother tongue perform better academically and develop stronger critical thinking skills. Language is the gateway to understanding complex concepts, enabling individuals to explore the world with a broader perspective.

Furthermore, the mother tongue nurtures emotional expression. It provides a nuanced vocabulary to convey feelings, thoughts, and experiences accurately. This emotional fluency enhances interpersonal relationships and promotes empathy and understanding among diverse communities.

In the globalized world we live in today, preserving the mother tongue is essential for cultural diversity. It enriches society by offering diverse perspectives, traditions, and knowledge systems. When individuals embrace and honour their mother tongue, they contribute to a tapestry of languages that collectively enhance humanity’s intellectual and cultural wealth.

In conclusion, the mother tongue is not just a means of communication; it is a reservoir of cultural heritage, a facilitator of cognitive growth, and a conduit for emotional expression. Its preservation is paramount, ensuring the richness of human experiences and sustaining the invaluable diversity that defines our world.

Festivals : Upholds Culture and Brings Joy of Togetherness

22/10/2023, SUN

#Founders’ Pen

I am writing to emphasize the profound significance of festivals in our rich and diverse country, India. Festivals in India are not merely celebrations; they are threads that weave the cultural fabric of our nation, binding us together in unity and harmony.

Our festivals carry centuries-old traditions, values, and customs. They serve as a reminder of our shared heritage, teaching us to respect and appreciate the diversity that defines our society. Diwali illuminates the triumph of light over darkness, symbolizing knowledge dispelling ignorance.

Holi, the festival of colours, exemplifies the joy of unity in diversity. Eid fosters the spirit of generosity and communal harmony. Christmas brings in the value of compassion and sacrifice. Each festival carries unique teachings, promoting understanding and acceptance among all.

Furthermore, festivals play a pivotal role in promoting social cohesion. They provide opportunities for families and communities to come together, reinforcing the importance of togetherness and mutual support. Through these celebrations, our children learn invaluable lessons about empathy, compassion, and the spirit of giving.

In the spirit of these festivals, let us embrace the diversity that makes our country extraordinary. Let us celebrate our differences and similarities alike, fostering an environment of love, acceptance, and understanding within our school and beyond.

Added Part about Dussehra

Now, that we are celebrating Dussehra with great fervour and joy I would like to say a few things about this festival in particular.

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, holds immense social and religious significance in Hindu culture. Socially, it symbolizes the victory of good over evil, encouraging people to embrace righteousness and reject negativity. The festival fosters a sense of unity and joy within communities, as families come together to celebrate. It also promotes cultural harmony and understanding among diverse groups.

Religiously, Dussehra marks the triumph of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana, signifying the victory of dharma (righteousness) over adharma (unrighteousness). It is a time for devotees to reflect on moral values and spiritual principles. The day is often associated with the worship of Goddess Durga, representing the divine feminine energy and strength.

Dussehra instils moral and ethical lessons, reminding people of the importance of truth, courage, and compassion. The celebrations strengthen social bonds, promote religious tolerance, and inspire individuals to lead a virtuous life, making it a vital festival in the rich tapestry of India’s cultural and religious heritage.

Wishing you all a joyous festive season filled with love, compassion, and unity.

Like every year, this year too, Greenwood High School, Hasanparthy, Hanumakonda celebrated Vinayaka Chavithi, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi that marks the birth of Ganesha, the God of Prosperity and Wisdom, on September 18, 2023 with great enthusiasm, fervor and a commitment to environmental sustainability. The celebration included the creation of huge eco-friendly clayidol of Ganesha, a nine-night special bhajana program, and the eco-conscious immersion of the idol.

Eco-Friendly Clay Idol Creation:

So as to promote Eco-friendliness and environmental consciousness, Greenwood High School organized a workshop where students and staff members made the idol of Ganesha using natural clay and organic colors, ensuring that they were free from harmful chemicals and pollutants.

This initiative aimed to reduce the environmental impact of the festival. The task of making the clay idol was successfully accomplished under the guidance of Art and Craft Teacher Banaja Sahoo.

The Festive Celebration :

The atmosphere was charged with the slogan of GANAPATHI BAPPA MORIA and BOLO GANESH MAHARAJ KI JAY. With devotional songs, beating of drums, wearing saffron head bands, students, teaching and non-teaching staff welcomed Lord Ganesha Murthi and installed him on the Mandapam.

Same evening around at 6.30 p.m. with the onset of auspicious muhurtham, Ganesh Puja started.  Rituals were meant to be acts of worship and devotion to the one Reality in its various manifestations.

Ritualsincluded homa or havan, yajna, and pujā, all of which drew together all the five senses thereby centering the attention of the devotees performing the ritual and calming the devotee’s heart and mind through adoring focus of the chosen deity Ganesha being invoked and worshiped in the ritual.

Dishonesty and Bribing

#Founders’ Pen _ 01/10/2023 SUN

Perils of being indifferent to dishonesty and bribing etc.

Indifference to dishonesty and bribery poses a grave threat to the fabric of society. When individuals turn a blind eye to these unethical practices, they inadvertently contribute to a culture of corruption and deception.

Firstly, such indifference erodes trust within communities and institutions. When people feel that dishonesty and bribery go unpunished, they lose faith in the fairness of the system, leading to social unrest and instability.

Secondly, it stifles (suffocates / holds back) progress and economic growth. Corruption diverts resources away from legitimate endeavours and into the hands of a corrupt few, hindering the development of infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

Moreover, indifference to dishonesty and bribery perpetuates (prolongs / continues) inequality. It ensures that those with power and connections maintain their advantages, while the vulnerable suffer the consequences.

In conclusion, indifference to dishonesty and bribery allows these destructive forces to thrive, corroding the very foundations of society. To build a just and prosperous future, we must actively condemn and combat these vices, ensuring that honesty and integrity prevail.

We must accept the fact that indifference to dishonesty and bribery is not a passive stance but an active endorsement of unethical behavior. So, it is time we all learned and begin to end our silence when we all are most required to shout out against the perils caused by fellow humans.
