The Thrill of the Game Begins @ Greenwood:Winter Sports Carnival 2024-25 Inaugural Ceremony


On the vibrant morning of 23 December 2024, Greenwood High School, Hasanparthy witnessed an electrifying atmosphere as students, staff, and esteemed guests gathered for the much-awaited inauguration of the Winter Sports Carnival 2024-25 which goes on for a week. With the cool winter breeze setting the perfect tone, the ceremony marked the beginning of an exhilarating season of sports, competition, and unity. The campus buzzed with enthusiasm, as the spirit of sportsmanship filled the air, promising a memorable celebration of athleticism and teamwork.

The event, skillfully hosted by Class 10 students Ch. Nithreya, M. Rithika, E. Jahnavi, and V. Yashwitha, under the guidance of Mr. T. Vijaykanth, Head of the English Department, brought together the entire school for a spectacular opening ceremony that laid the foundation for a fun-filled and competitive Carnival.

Program Highlights

Welcoming the Dignitaries – The event began with a warm reception of the distinguished dignitaries:

Guard of Honor – The NCC cadets, joined by other students, delivered a flawless Guard of Honor, showcasing impeccable discipline and respect for the occasion.Flag Hoisting and National Anthem – The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Sri. Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu, followed by the National Anthem, a moment that united everyone in patriotic pride and respect.

School Sports Flag Hoisting and Parade – The Director then hoisted the School Sports Flag, officially marking the commencement of the Winter Sports Carnival. A lively parade followed, with NCC cadets and House Captains from AGNI, BRAHMOS, PRITHVI, and TRISHUL leading the march, symbolizing the school’s unity and collective spirit.

Student Speeches – Class 10 students shared inspiring speeches, each reflecting on the values learned through renowned players of different games, sports and its impact on life:

  • Lizem Drill by Girls: The girls performed an intricate Lizem Drill, displaying their perfect synchronization and teamwork.
  • Dumbbell Drill by Boys: The boys showed strength and coordination in their lively Dumbbell Drill.
  • Hoops Drill by Girls: The girls impressed with a graceful Hoops Drill, showcasing their finesse and rhythm.
  • Dance Performance by Class 9 Boys: The boys from Class 9 brought the house down with a high-energy dance performance that was both entertaining and captivating.

Release of Air Balloons – In a breathtaking moment, the Director released air balloons into the sky, symbolizing the hopes, dreams, and soaring aspirations of all students at Greenwood High.

Lighting of the Sports Torch and Relay – The ceremonial lighting of the Sports Torch by the Director highlighted the official beginning of the Carnival. A torch relay, carried by house representatives, spread the flames of sportsmanship and unity throughout the school, igniting the competitive spirit in every participant.

Pledge by Students – The Director administered the Greenwood Winter Sports Carnival Pledge, where students promised to uphold the values of integrity, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the Carnival and beyond.

His words emphasized the values of resilience, fair play, and friendship, encouraging students to embrace these principles in every aspect of their lives.
