Greenwood High School, Mancherial, proudly organized the Winter Sports Carnival with great enthusiasm, discipline, and vibrant participation from 27th to 30 th December. The four – day sporting extravaganza was conducted under the able guidance of Principal Mr. R. Chandramohan and Vice Principal Mr. G. Thirupathi, with the dedicated supervision of Physical Education Trainer Mr. M. Sagar. The event was successfully executed with the active coordination and wholehearted support of all teaching and non-teaching staff, reflecting true teamwork and commitment.


Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony marked a spirited and auspicious beginning to the carnival. The dignitaries were escorted with honour by the Scouts and Guides, lending discipline and decorum to the event. The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag and the Sports Flag, followed by the march past by the four houses — Diamond, Sapphire, Emerald, and Ruby — symbolizing unity, discipline, and competitive spirit.





A colourful welcome dance was performed by Mahalakshmi of Grade III, Hasika of Grade II, and Manaswini of Grade IV, under the guidance of Mrs. P. Sunitha, captivating the audience with grace and rhythm. This was followed by a delightful welcome dance by Amyra and Adhya Reddy of Grade I, trained by Mrs. B. Amitha, which added charm and cheer to the ceremony, grade 6 th students added more glory to the occasion under the guidance Mrs. M. Tejaswini.



The ceremonial clap to commence the Sports Carnival was initiated by Principal Mr. R. Chandramohan, who also released pigeons, symbolizing peace, hope, and harmony. The Olympic torch, representing the spirit of perseverance, fair play, and excellence, was ceremoniously carried by Physical Education Trainer Mr. M. Sagar, along with School Sport’ s Captains Ch. Bhuvanteja and M. Harini, inspiring students to uphold the values of sportsmanship.


The Opening Ceremony was confidently and effectively anchored by K. Srikaran of Grade IX and Ch. Samanya of Grade VIII, whose eloquence and coordination enhanced the programme.
Sports Events and Arrangements
A wide range of games and sports competitions were conducted for students under the Junior, Sub-Junior, and Senior categories. The events included Football, Handball, Throwball, Kho-Kho, Skipping, Shot Put, Running (100 m, 200 m, and 400 m), Hurdle Jump, Carrom Board, Musical Chairs, Lemon and Spoon, and Frog Jump. Students from all four houses participated with remarkable enthusiasm, demonstrating discipline, teamwork, and a strong competitive spirit.
Scoring and result tabulation were efficiently handled by Mr. Mahender ensuring accuracy and transparency throughout the events.


All medical requirements, including first aid kits and energy boosters such as lemon water and glucose, were readily provided to ensure the safety and well-being of the participants by office staff
The event was well documented, with photographs and videos captured by the office staff, preserving memorable moments of the carnival.
The four -day event commentary was systematically and engagingly handled by Mr O. Venkatesh Sushma, and Mrs. Lakshmi Devi, who kept the audience informed and energized throughout the competitions.
Closing Ceremony
The Closing Ceremony was a dignified and memorable occasion, graced by the Guest of Honour, Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu, Hon’ble Director of the Greenwood Group of Schools, whose visionary leadership continues to inspire excellence in academics and co-curricular activities. The ceremony was further enriched by the esteemed presence of Mr. T. Pavan Kumar, AGM of the Greenwood Group of Schools, whose encouragement and continuous support for holistic student development were deeply appreciated.




The closing programme included cultural performances, prize distribution, and the ceremonial furling and handover of the flag. The prize winners were announced by Mr. O. Venkatesh, Chemistry Teacher, and Mrs. Saba Firdose, acknowledging the achievements of students across all categories and houses.















The Closing Ceremony was gracefully anchored by Ch. Aadhya of Grade VII and S. Sejal of Grade VIII, who conducted the programme with confidence, clarity, and poise. After keen and healthy competition, Ruby House emerged as the Overall Champion, earning accolades for its consistent performance and exemplary team spirit.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs. Saba Firdose, who expressed sincere gratitude to the management, dignitaries, principal, vice principal, staff members, students, and parents for their invaluable support and cooperation in making the Winter Sports Carnival a resounding success.
Conclusion
The Winter Sports Carnival not only promoted physical fitness and competitive excellence but also instilled the values of discipline, leadership, unity, and sportsmanship among students. The three-day event stood as a testament to Greenwood High School’s commitment to holistic education and the all-round development of its students.
