Place values are the values of each digit in a number based on its position. Starting from the right, each place value gets bigger by 10 times. The place values are:
Ones (1)
Tens (10)
Hundreds (100)
How to Write Numbers in Expanded Form
Let’s take the number 456. To write this number in expanded form, we break it down into its place values:
400 (hundreds)
50 (tens)
6 (ones)
So, the expanded form of 456 is:
400 + 50 + 6
Why is Expanded Form Important?
Writing numbers in expanded form helps us understand the value of each digit and how they contribute to the total number. It’s like breaking down a big puzzle into smaller pieces!
Example
Let’s try another example. The number 279 can be broken down into:
200 (hundreds)
70 (tens)
9 (ones)
So, the expanded form of 279 is:
200 + 70 + 9
Conclusion
In conclusion, expanded form is a powerful tool that helps us understand numbers better. By breaking down numbers into their place values, we can see how each digit contributes to the total number. So, next time you see a big number, try breaking it down into its expanded form!

Kindness and empathy are two of the most powerful tools we have to make the world a better place. They cost nothing, yet their impact can be priceless. In our busy lives, we sometimes forget how much a small act of kindness or a moment of understanding can mean to someone.
Kindness is about being good to others. It can be as simple as smiling at someone, helping a friend, or offering kind words. Kindness makes people feel loved and appreciated. When we are kind, we spread positivity and create happinessโnot just for others, but also for ourselves.
Empathy is the ability to understand and share someone elseโs feelings. It is like putting yourself in another personโs shoes. For example, if someone is sad, empathy allows us to understand their sadness and offer support. It helps us become better listeners and more compassionate individuals.
When we combine kindness with empathy, amazing things can happen. For instance, if a classmate is struggling with homework, offering help and understanding their frustration can make a big difference. They feel supported, and you feel good for helping.
Kindness and empathy also bring people closer. They build trust and strengthen relationships. A kind gesture or an understanding word can heal wounds, solve problems, and even prevent conflicts. Imagine a world where everyone practices kindness and empathyโit would be a peaceful and happy place!
In todayโs world, many people experience stress, loneliness, and sadness. A little kindness can brighten someoneโs day, and empathy can make them feel less alone. When we are kind and empathetic, we inspire others to do the same. This creates a chain reaction, spreading goodness everywhere.
Studies have shown that practicing kindness and empathy is beneficial for our health. It reduces stress, fosters a sense of connection, and boosts happiness. These qualities also make us better leaders, friends, and family members.
Practicing kindness and empathy is easy. Start smallโsay โthank youโ and โplease.โ Listen when someone talks to you. Help your parents with chores or assist your classmates with their work. If someone is feeling down, try to understand their feelings and comfort them.
Avoid judging others. Everyone has their own struggles, and sometimes, all they need is someone who understands. Even if you canโt solve their problems, simply being there for them can mean a lot.
Teaching kindness and empathy to children is essential for their overall development. These qualities help children build positive relationships, understand others’ feelings, and create a caring community. They can be nurtured through intentional actions and activities in schools.
Teachers can incorporate stories, role-playing, and group discussions into their lessons to help students understand different perspectives. Encouraging teamwork and cooperation in projects also fosters empathy. Acts of kindnessโsuch as helping peers, sharing, or volunteeringโshould be encouraged and rewarded to reinforce positive behavior.
Kindness and empathy are not just actions; they are attitudes. They remind us that we are all connected and that every small act of goodness matters. By practicing kindness and empathy, we can make a big difference in the lives of others and in our own.
So, letโs choose to be kind and empathetic every day. Together, we can create a world filled with love, understanding, and happiness.

Road safety is a critical aspect of modern life, ensuring the well-being of individuals traveling on roads. With the increasing number of vehicles and the rising pace of life, understanding and practicing road safety has become more important than ever. It is not just the responsibility of authorities or drivers but of everyone who uses the road, including pedestrians, cyclists, and passengers.
ย
Importance of Road Safety
Every year, millions of lives are lost, and many more are injured due to road accidents. These accidents often occur due to careless driving, speeding, or lack of awareness of road safety rules. Following road safety measures can reduce accidents, save lives, and prevent injuries. Additionally, it ensures smooth traffic flow and lessens the burden on healthcare systems caused by accident-related emergencies.
Essential Road Safety Rules for Drivers
Drivers play a significant role in maintaining road safety. Following speed limits, avoiding distractions such as mobile phones, and wearing seat belts are basic yet vital rules. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is one of the leading causes of accidents and must be strictly avoided. Regular vehicle maintenance, such as checking brakes and lights, also helps prevent mishaps.
Safety Tips for Pedestrians
Pedestrians, too, must follow certain rules to stay safe. Always use designated crosswalks or pedestrian signals when crossing roads. Looking both ways before crossing and avoiding distractions like phones while walking are important habits. Wearing bright or reflective clothing at night can increase visibility and reduce the risk of accidents.
Role of Cyclists and Motorcyclists
Cyclists and motorcyclists must wear helmets to protect themselves in case of accidents. Following traffic rules, using proper signals, and ensuring their bikes have functioning lights and reflectors are crucial. Staying in designated lanes and avoiding risky maneuvers contribute to overall road safety.
ย
Teaching Road Safety for Children
Teaching road safety to children is crucial. They should always cross the road at pedestrian crossings and wait for the signal. It’s important to look both ways before crossing. Wearing bright clothing helps drivers see them better. Kids should never run or play near busy roads. Walking on the sidewalk and not in the street keeps them safe. It’s also essential to listen to traffic signals and be aware of their surroundings. Using seat belts in cars and helmets when cycling helps prevent injuries. Following these simple rules can keep children safe on the roads. Schools and communities must educate children about basic road rules from an early age.
ย
The Role of Technology in Road Safety
Advancements in technology, such as automatic braking systems, airbags, and road surveillance cameras, have enhanced road safety. GPS and traffic monitoring apps also help drivers avoid congested areas, reducing the chances of accidents. Governments are increasingly using technology to enforce traffic rules through speed cameras and automated fine systems.
ย
Awareness Campaigns and Safety Workshops
Awareness campaigns, safety workshops, and strict enforcement of traffic laws can significantly improve road safety. The government and media also play a vital role in spreading awareness about road safety measures and the consequences of neglecting them.
Road safety is not just a rule to follow but a lifestyle to adopt. By adhering to traffic laws and being mindful of our responsibilities, we can create a safer environment for everyone. Every life is precious, and a small effort to follow road safety measures can make a big difference. Let us pledge to be responsible road users and contribute to a safer world.

He expressed his joy at sharing the stage with 95-year-old Sri.G. Yellapa Naidu, a personality with a wealth of life experience, whose presence added depth to the occasion.
The Chief Guest, Sri V.V. Lakshminarayana, began his speech with the enthusiastic slogan “Bharat Mata ki Jay!” He then engaged the students by asking, โWho is Bharat Mata?โ prompting a variety of responses, including that it is an allegorical name. He explained that Bharat Mata represents the people of our country and urged everyone to work diligently for Indiaโs development. He envisioned a future where, instead of Indians seeking jobs abroad, people from around the world would come to India for opportunities, proudly wearing our countryโs name and flag with honor. This stirring beginning set the tone for his inspiring and thought-provoking address.
In his speech, Sri. V.V. Lakshminarayana encouraged the students to embrace the power of curiosity and introspection by consistently asking themselves three pivotal questions: Why, What, and How. He illustrated how these questions have been the foundation for the inception of many globally renowned companies, inspiring students to think critically and innovatively. Furthermore, he emphasized the collective responsibility of making India a great nation. Drawing from his observations of educational systems in various countries, he shared actionable insights on how students could contribute to this mission.
To stimulate mental sharpness and enhance focus, he recommended simple yet impactful activities such as performing 21 sit-ups daily, listening to the chimes of temple bells, and engaging in reverse counting from 100 to 1. These, he explained, are effective ways to activate the brain and improve cognitive abilities.
Sri. V.V. Lakshminarayana also encouraged students to set three ambitious yet meaningful goals for their lives:
Make their parents proud.
Achieve such greatness that they are invited back as chief guests at their alma mater.
Transform their signatures into autographs, symbolizing their achievements and recognition.
He further urged the students to train and develop four essential aspects of their lives:
Body โ maintaining physical health and discipline.
Mind โ nurturing intellect and emotional intelligence.
Word โ using language effectively and responsibly.
Thought โ cultivating positive and constructive thinking.
In a powerful closing message, he reminded the students that what fills their minds will inevitably shape their words and actions. Throughout his address, he passionately encouraged the students to strive for self-improvement and dedicate themselves to the nationโs development. He also highlighted the importance of reading biographies of great personalities to draw inspiration from their lives and achievements.
The speech was a perfect blend of inspiration, practical wisdom, and motivation, leaving the students with a renewed sense of purpose and direction.
During the interactive session, students eagerly posed questions to the Chief Guest, Sri. V.V. Lakshminarayana, seeking his guidance on various topics. When a student asked his preference among hard work, smart work, reasoning, or luck, he emphasized the importance of hard work, explaining that while all are essential in different situations, success is unattainable without dedicated effort. Responding to another question about overcoming stress in studies, he cleverly asked if the student felt stressed while watching a movie. When the student replied โNo,โ he advised approaching studies with similar interest and enjoyment, turning learning into a joyful experience.
