Ganith Week Celebrations

 The Mathematics Week Celebrations were conducted with great enthusiasm and active participation from students of Grades IV to VII, aiming to develop logical thinking, numerical skills, and a joyful learning experience through creative and hands-on activities. The celebrations successfully transformed mathematics from a subject into an engaging and enjoyable experience for students.

Day 1: 17th December 2025 (Grades IV & V)

The first day witnessed energetic participation from Grade IV and V students, who showcased their mathematical understanding through various creative performances and activities.

The highlights of the day included:

  • Shapes Dance, where students beautifully demonstrated different geometrical shapes through coordinated movements.
  • Skit on Mathematics, emphasizing the importance of mathematics in daily life.
  • Tables Dance (8th Table), combining rhythm and learning to reinforce multiplication skills.
  • Rounding Off Activity, helping students understand approximation in a practical manner.
  • Ascending and Descending Order Activity, enhancing number sense and logical arrangement.
  • Fractions Activity, where students demonstrated concepts of fractions using models and examples.
  • Working Model on Place Value, which clearly explained the place value system using hands-on materials.

The performances reflected students’ confidence, creativity, and conceptual clarity.

Day 2: 18th December 2025 – Ganit Master Minds Quiz  (IV–VII)

On the second day, the much-anticipated “Ganith Master Minds” Quiz was conducted for Classes IV to VII. To ensure fair selection, two screening rounds were organized:

  • Screening Test – 1: Conducted on 11th December 2025
  • Screening Test – 2: Conducted on 13th December 2025

Based on these screening tests, four teams were formed, named after legendary Indian mathematicians:

  • Srinivasa Ramanujan
  • Aryabhata
  • Brahmagupta
  • Bhaskaracharya

    The quiz tested students’ speed, accuracy, logical reasoning, and mathematical concepts across different grades.

Day 3: 20th December 2025 (Grades VI & VII)

The final day focused on concept-based and application-oriented activities for Grades VI and VII. The activities included:

  • Value of Zero Activity, highlighting the significance of zero in mathematics.
  • Fun Maths Questions, encouraging quick thinking and problem-solving.
  • BODMAS Activity, strengthening understanding of order of operations.
  • A–Z Mathematical Key Terms, where students explored mathematical vocabulary in an innovative way.
  • Angles through Classical Dance, a unique integration of mathematics and art, where students demonstrated different types of angles through graceful classical dance movements.

Guidance and Support

The successful execution of Mathematics Week was made possible under the constant guidance and encouragement of the Director, Principals’, Academic Coordinator, Mathematics HOD, and the dedicated Mathematics Department teachers, whose support motivated students and ensured smooth conduct of all activities.

Conclusion

Social Science Quiz Competitions – 2025 zInquissitive Explorers Challenge

The Social Science Department conducted the Social Science Quiz Competition on 28th November 2025 with the objective of promoting curiosity, academic excellence, and enthusiasm toward Social Science subjects among students of Classes 4 to 7. The event saw an enthusiastic response from students, who actively participated at every stage of the competition.

2. Preliminary Screening Test (20thNovember 2025)

To ensure fair selection and appropriate representation from all participating grades, a Preliminary/Screening Test was conducted on 20thNovember 2025.

  • Separate question papers were prepared for Classes 4, 5, 6, and 7.
  • Difficulty level and content were based on their respective standards and Social Science syllabus.
  • The test included questions from Geography, History, Civics, and General Awareness.

After evaluation, selected students were given one week of preparation time before the final quiz competition.

3. Final Quiz Competition (28 November 2025)

The main event was held on 28th November 2025 in the school auditorium. The program began with:

  • Introduction of dignitaries,
  • A brief address by the event coordinator,
  • Introduction of the four shortlisted teams  and
  • Explanation of rules, scoring procedures, and round formats.

5. Structure of the Quiz Rounds

The final quiz comprised four competitive rounds, each designed to test conceptual knowledge, quick thinking, and teamwork.

Round 1 – National Symbols (8 Questions)

  • Direct questions to each team
  • Bounce/Passing allowed
  • Scoring:
    • Correct: 10 points
    • No negative marking

This round tested the teams’ knowledge of Indian national identity and symbolism.

Round 2 – Map Masters (4 Questions)

  • Included both direct and bounce and pounce questions
  • Focused on map-reading skills and geographical awareness

Scoring:

  • Direct Answer: 20 points
  • Pounce Answer: 25 points
  • Wrong pounce: 5 points

This round encouraged analytical skills and spatial understanding.

Round 3 – Freedom Fighters Round (8 Questions)

  • Direct questions with bounce/passing
  • Highlighted India’s freedom struggle and key personalities

Scoring:

  • Correct Answer: 20 points
  • No negative marking

Teams showcased their historical knowledge and recall abilities.

Round 4 – Buzzer Round (6 Questions)

  • 5 open buzzer questions
  • 1 final Bumper Question containing 5 sub-questions

Scoring:

  • Correct Buzzer Answer: 20 points
  • Wrong Buzzer Answer: 5 points
  • Bumper Question:
    • All 5 sub-questions correct = extra 20 bonus points

This round tested instant thinking, accuracy, and decision-making under pressure.

6. Conduct of the Program

The event was conducted smoothly and professionally. The quizmaster ensured clarity of questions and adherence to rules. Audience engagement remained high throughout the competition.

After the completion of all four rounds, the final scores were calculated, and the results were formally announced by the dignitaries. Certificates and encouragement were given to all teams for their participation, sportsmanship, and exceptional effort.

Greenwood High School Welcomes Winter with a Spectacular Sports Carnival.

The much-awaited Winter Sports Carnival was inaugurated today with great enthusiasm and school spirit at Greenwood High School, Hunter Road. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Director, Mr. Bharadwaj Naidu, General Manager, Mr. Prabhu Kumar, Principal, Mrs. Manjula Devi, Dean, Mr. Ravinder, Vice Principal Mr. Srikanth and ACO, Mrs. Rajeshwari,
who presided over the gathering.

The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the school flag, followed by the respectful hoisting of the National Flag, filling the atmosphere with pride, patriotism and unity.

the children participated in an energetic marshal run around the ground, symbolically carrying and lifting the ceremonial light, setting a spirited tone for the day.

The students presented a vibrant house-wise march past, showcasing discipline, coordination and teamwork.
In his inspiring address, the Director administered the sports oath, encouraging students to uphold the values of sportsmanship, integrity and fair play throughout the carnival.

The inaugural drills began with beautifully synchronized rhythmic performances set to music, where students displayed colourful pom-pom formations, adding festive charm to the event. The middle school students impressed the audience with their well-coordinated dumbbell drills, reflecting strength, precision and vigorous practice.



Parents were warmly invited for the inaugural ceremony and their active participation added joy to the occasion. Special parent-and-child games were conducted, creating moments of fun, bonding and shared laughter. The enthusiastic involvement of parents made the event even more memorable.
