Greenwood leaves no occasion to reinforce its mission of educating parents and students on a healthy diet.
We observed “Yummy Tummy Nutritional week ” from 7th to 12th November 2022.
A fruit/ vegetable diet chart and its nutritional values was shared with students and parents. Teachers ensured that students followed the same throughout the week.
We wholeheartedly thank our parents for supporting us in bringing awareness towards the importance of healthy food for students’ physical and mental health.
On the occasion of ‘Garden Party’ as it is ‘Karthika Masam’ Abhyaas the global school came up with an innovative idea.
Children across the grades were informed that their lunch boxes would not be relished by them as usual, but by their lucky schoolmates as the lunch boxes would be distributed randomly to the children. It also meant that they too would be eating lip-smacking food prepared by somebody else’s loving mother. This thought drove the children to get their favourite food prepared by their mothers.
The children in a festive mood fed food to each other and to their favorite teachers sitting on lush green meadows and under shady trees.
Next, they rocked the ground by shaking a leg to their favorite songs. Both dancers and spectators enjoyed themselves thoroughly. At one point, a sudden, invigorating breeze dispersed leaves from nearby trees on the dancers and spectators so much that students were commenting that nature too was enjoying itself. But the fun didn’t end there because the sprawling grounds were inviting the children to play games of their choice, with friends of their choice irrespective of age or gender.
The hidden motive behind organizing this Pot Luck Lunch was to encourage and inculcate positive habits of sharing and caring for their fellow beings, crossing man-made barriers of religion, caste, gender, age and status. The facial expressions and undiluted joy gave evidence to the fact that the “Pot Luck Lunch” was a grand success with a great motive.

Being an educator is it important to punish or provide a chance to be rectified???….. Does punishing children work??…….
Does punishment changes the Child’s behaviour?? Yes, but only for brief time. It might help teachers and parents to believe that they have control on their child for a while, until the next misdeed .usually children will continue to do the same thing they were punished for.
Hence discipline is not taught, it is “learnt” .Discipline is an “attitude”, it is about “character “, a “responsibility” and a life time “commitment”.
The time has come to re-examine the saying ‘spare the rool and spoil the child’. Children are at the receiving end both at their own homes and schools.
Children not only carry the knowledge that we share but also the brunt of anger for being punished for silly reasons. one being a parent or a teacher should remember that we are training children not an army.
One of the trouble with punishment as a way to teach a proper social behaviour, aside from the infliction of pain, is that it makes children feel weak and incapable? They learn to submit to authority and power, to obey. By being punished they become inferior beings they do not develop the power of human individual to “love and trust “ others.
Reflect on the main difference between “Discipline and punishment” are we teaching children a new behaviour or fear? Introspection is the need of the day.
There should be a scope of learning beyond class room confinement to widen the knowledge of students and to provide exposure for real life problems relating to society.
On 4th of November 2022, Greenwood high school hunter road organized an event “SCIENCE CLUB ACTIVITY 2022”
‘Science‘is simply the word we use to describe a method of organizing our curiosity. Science provides a platform for the students to use their scientific knowledge and bring the best invention from their brains. It also allows students to work together in groups and learn from each other.
They share their ideas and collectively galvanize those ideas to bring something innovative into implementation. The main reason behind organizing such science experiments is to provide a platform to students where they can implement the various scientific theories/methods through various projects/models. It is a platform where students can showcase how much they have understood the different scientific theories through their projects/models.
It also helps to build the ability for teamwork and cooperation among students. The aim of the event was to elaborate on the importance of science in our life. Students presented their wonder science projects according to their interests and skills. There were special activities performed by the students. All the students were so excited, especially those who want to choose science as their career.
The Science Event was a huge success. The Function not only gave wings to the curious minds of the students but also the adults and teachers seemed to enjoy the display of the plethora of scientific advances presented by the students. Such Events are of utmost necessity for the students as they get to explore their full potential and also get a stage to present their ideas.
This event was organized and leaded by Ms.Nasreen Sultana of (Science Department)
“The colour of love and smiles illuminates the air with energy, vigour and exuberance…..”

The tiny tots looked stunning in their red outfits. The young ones sang Red Day song ‘My red balloon….’ ‘Apples are red… Roses are red…. I love red…red, red, red…’
Some of the students spoke a few sentences on the red object they brought from home.
Principal Ms.Mamjula Devi had an eventful interactive session with students providing them with a deep insight about the purpose of such celebrations.
In the class rooms children have palm printing, collage work ,colouring activity. Everyone enjoyed colouring , collage work and printing their own hands
Colours are indeed the smiles of nature….. The ‘Red Day’ celebration was a wonderful learning activity which helped children to sort and classify objects based on colours there by reinforcing cognitive skills.
It was a scintillating day with innocent faces gleaming and reflecting brightness, joy, love and happiness.
