Greenwood High School, joyfully celebrated World Students’ Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam — the “Missile Man of India” and the beloved People’s President.
The students fondly remembered Dr. Kalam’s inspiring journey — his humble childhood, early struggles, remarkable achievements as a scientist and his enduring legacy as a visionary teacher and motivator. They reflected on his inspiring words:
“Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action.”
Our tiny tots from the Pre-Primary section added charm to the celebration with a delightful dress walk, dressed as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, portraying his simplicity and greatness.
During the program, our Principal, Mrs. Manjula Devi, addressed the gathering and motivated the students by sharing about Dr. Kalam’s life as a teacher, inspirer and lifelong learner. She encouraged students to follow his path of perseverance and passion for learning. Our Vice Principal, Mr. K. Srikanth also shared his valuable thoughts and appreciated the enthusiasm and participation of the students.
The day also marked the observance of Global Handwashing Day. To highlight the importance of cleanliness and good hygiene, our students enthusiastically performed and demonstrated the proper steps of handwashing, emphasizing the need to keep our hands clean to stay healthy and safe.
It was truly a day filled with inspiration, learning and awareness!
The International Day of the Girl Child was observed on 11th October 2025 to celebrate the strength, resilience and limitless potential of girls. The day highlighted the importance of ensuring every girl receives equal opportunities for education, growth and empowerment.

Each class explored age-appropriate themes to reinforce that girls can achieve anything with confidence and determination.
The younger learners delighted in stories, rhymes and picture reading activities such as “Gudiya Goes to School” and “Girls Can Do Anything,” conveying that every girl is unique and capable. Middle graders participated in interactive sessions, role plays and writing tasks centered on equality, respect and the success stories of achievers like Mary Kom, Malala Yousafzai and Kalpana Chawla. The senior students expressed their views creatively through essays, posters and presentations on “Empowered Girls, Empowered Nation.”
The celebration inspired every child to value and support gender equality, spreading the strong message that an empowered girl today shapes a stronger and brighter tomorrow.
G-Talks by O. Akshay Kumar on the Topic “Read Books”
From Greenwood High School – Naimnagar
As part of the G-Talks series, O. Akshay Kumar, a student of Greenwood High School, delivered an inspiring talk on the importance of reading books. He emphasized how reading helps expand knowledge, improve imagination, and build strong communication skills. Akshay encouraged his peers to develop the habit of reading every day, explaining that books are our best companions and guides toward success. His confident presentation and thoughtful message left the audience motivated to make reading a part of their daily routine.
Why parents now choose empathy over punishment to raise resilient children.
For many Indian parents, strict discipline was once synonymous with a raised voice or even a raised hand. Today, attitudes are shifting. Families are realizing that fear may create temporary obedience, but it rarely builds resilience or responsibility.
The gradual shift from physical punishment is not about permissiveness, but about finding strategies that actually nurture stronger bonds and better behavior.
When Punishment Backfires
Studies across psychology show that physical punishment may stop unwanted behavior in the moment, but it leaves behind lasting emotional scars. Children disciplined with fear are more likely to hide mistakes, struggle with trust, or act out in secret. Parents are recognizing that what works is not short-term control, but long-term guidance.
Talk, Don't Threaten
Open communication is proving to be a far more effective tool. Explaining why a behavior is unacceptable and what consequences it has, helps teenagers develop internal discipline. Conversations may take more patience than scolding. But they encourage reflection rather than rebellion.
Positive Discipline in Practice
Parents can try these practical strategies to guide their children with calm and clarity:
Consistency matters: Setting clear boundaries and following through calmly, helps build respect.
Natural consequences: Letting children Experience the outcome of their choices teaches responsibility.
Reward effort, not just results: Praising persistence or honesty fosters motivation.
Time-ins, not time-outs: Sitting together to discuss emotions works better than isolation.
Parents as
Role Models
Teenagers learn more from what parents do than what they say. Demonstrating calm problem-solving, apologizing when wrong, and showing respect in daily interactions reinforce values better than lectures. In homes where respect is mutual, discipline becomes less about control and more about cooperation.
Ultimately, chaos is not prevented by punishment but by connection. As parents embrace empathy and consistency, they discover that real discipline nurtures trust, responsibility, and strong values that thrive in calm homes.

The celebrations were graced by the School Directors, Sri. Challa Dharma Reddy and Sri. Dr. Girrem Bharadwaja Naidu, who adorned the occasion as esteemed chief guests.
Bathukamma: Telangana’s Floral Emblem
Bathukamma, meaning “Mother Goddess Alive,” is not just a festival but a deep-rooted cultural identity of Telangana. The Floral Tower of Devotion
The central attraction of the festival is the seven-layered Bathukamma, designed to resemble a temple gopuram. Students and teachers collectively arranged these floral towers with seasonal blossoms like Gunugu, Tangedu, and Banthi.
