P. Taranya, a student of Greenwood High School, Hasanparthy, Hanumakonda, shared her thoughts on the topic “Technology and Its Unfair Advancements.” She explained how modern technology, though highly advanced, has negatively impacted traditional art forms such as painting, drawing, and handcrafting. In earlier days, people expressed their creativity through manual effort and artistic skills, but now machines and digital tools have replaced much of that work. As a result, handcrafting, labor, and manpower have declined, reducing the value of human creativity in art and craft. Taranya encouraged everyone to balance technology with traditional skills to preserve the beauty of handmade art.

Why parents now choose empathy over punishment to raise resilient children.
For many Indian parents, strict discipline was once synonymous with a raised voice or even a raised hand. Today, attitudes are shifting. Families are realizing that fear may create temporary obedience, but it rarely builds resilience or responsibility.
The gradual shift from physical punishment is not about permissiveness, but about finding strategies that actually nurture stronger bonds and better behavior.
When Punishment Backfires
Studies across psychology show that physical punishment may stop unwanted behavior in the moment, but it leaves behind lasting emotional scars. Children disciplined with fear are more likely to hide mistakes, struggle with trust, or act out in secret. Parents are recognizing that what works is not short-term control, but long-term guidance.
Talk, Don't Threaten
Open communication is proving to be a far more effective tool. Explaining why a behavior is unacceptable and what consequences it has, helps teenagers develop internal discipline. Conversations may take more patience than scolding. But they encourage reflection rather than rebellion.
Positive Discipline in Practice
Parents can try these practical strategies to guide their children with calm and clarity:
Consistency matters: Setting clear boundaries and following through calmly, helps build respect.
Natural consequences: Letting children Experience the outcome of their choices teaches responsibility.
Reward effort, not just results: Praising persistence or honesty fosters motivation.
Time-ins, not time-outs: Sitting together to discuss emotions works better than isolation.
Parents as
Role Models
Teenagers learn more from what parents do than what they say. Demonstrating calm problem-solving, apologizing when wrong, and showing respect in daily interactions reinforce values better than lectures. In homes where respect is mutual, discipline becomes less about control and more about cooperation.
Ultimately, chaos is not prevented by punishment but by connection. As parents embrace empathy and consistency, they discover that real discipline nurtures trust, responsibility, and strong values that thrive in calm homes.
