The Historical Importance of Jallianwala Bagh

Presently this is a Historical Garden and a ‘Memorial of National Importance’. It is very close to the sacred ‘Golden Temple Complex’ in Amritsar, Punjab. It is preserved as a memorial for those brutally killed; the men, women and even the innocent children; and wounded in what is known as Jallianwala Bagh Massacre at this site on the festive day of Baisakhi on 13 April 1919.

Also known as the ‘Amritsar Massacre’, this marks the brutality and cruelty and inhumane nature of the British Rulers. On that fateful day General Dyer, attacked and ordered firing at a crowd of people, protesting peacefully against the Rowlatt Act and arrest of pro-independence activists Saifuddin Kitchlew and Satyapal. Unfortunately, this place was densely surrounded by buildings and had only one exit which was blocked by the forces of General Dyer. Thus, when the firing was started people had no way to escape. Many succumbed to death and several injured fatally. It was so disheartening to recall that the firing continued without any break till the ammunition was totally exhausted. This incident shocked each and everyone. Rabindranath Tagore was so moved that he renounced his Knighthood in protest of this British brutality.

GOLDEN TEMPLE

The Golden temple is famous for its full golden dome, it is one of the most sacred pilgrim spots for Sikhs. The Mandir is built on a 67-ft square of marble and is a two storied structure. Maharaja Ranjit Singh had the upper half of the building built with approximately 400 kg of gold leaf.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh, after founding the Sikh Empire, rebuilt it in marble and copper in 1809, and overlaid the sanctum with gold leaf in 1830. This has led to the name the Golden Temple. The Golden Temple is spiritually the most significant shrine in Sikhism.

At 06.45 in the evening, we started walking towards the holy “Golden Temple” from the Jallianwala Bagh with heavy hearts to get the solace in the blessing of the Holy Sikh Guru. We all entered the temple strictly following the religious dictums of Sikhism; tying a holy cloth; turban around our heads and dipping our feet in the holy water in the temple complex.

The Golden temple is a Gurudwara, an eminent spiritual and holy place of Sikhism. We also visited Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, in Kartarpur and Gurudwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib.

By 09.00 p.m. that day, we moved to a comfortable hotel for a sumptuous dinner and a goodnight’s sleep in comfort.

Bhagwan Valmiki Tirth Asthan

On 16/12/2022, at 08.00am in the morning we all started towards the famous Bhagwan Valmiki Tirth Asthan at Amritsar.

Bhagwan Valmiki Tirth Asthan is a Temple Complex; an important historical monument dedicated to Maharshi Valmiki’s located on Bhagwan Valmiki Tirth Road, about 11 km west of Amritsar city. There is an 8-foot-tall, 800-kg gold-plated idol of Sage Valmiki in this complex.

According to the Hindu Mythology, this temple dates back to the period of Ramayana. This placed is believed to be the erstwhile Ashram of Sage Valmiki. It is the very place where Sadhvi Sita was given shelter and the children of Lord Rama were born. It is the place where the epic Ramayana was written by Rishi Valmiki. Close to this place is Ram Tirth, where Lord Rama’s forces were defeated by his own sons; Lava and Kusha.

Wagah Border

We started moving towards the Wagah Border(Attari Border) at about 1.30 p.m. and reached there by 03.00 p.m. which is almost 32 Kms away from Amritsar.

Wagah is the international border between India and Pakistan; an army outpost on Indo-Pak border – between Amritsar and Lahore. It is an elaborate complex of buildings, roads and barriers on both sides of India and Pakistan.

We are fortunate to witness the pomp and pageantry of the ‘Beating Retreat’ a remarkable ritual followed here on each and every day. This marks the change of guard at both sides within the handshaking distance of the Indian and Pakistani forces. Soldiers from both the countries perform a perfect drill and march, thus going through an exciting and hair rising procedure followed by the bringing down of their respective national flags. As the sun goes down, nationalistic fervour rises and lights are switched on marking the end of the day amidst thunderous applause patriotism. This spectacular array would certainly last in our hearts for a life time.

Makar refers to the Zodiac sign of Capricorn, while Sankranti means transition. The festival ‘Makar Sankranti’ celebrates the Sun’s shift into the zodiac sign of Capricorn. It is celebrated in reverence to the deity Surya (sun). It is observed each year in January. It marks the first day of sun’s transit into the Makara (Capricorn) and marks the end of the winter solstice. Being a festival that celebrates the solar cycle, it usually falls on the same Gregorian date every year. This festival officially announces the beginning of spring. The festival highlights the importance of pulling back unethical and unhealthy behaviors while practicing peaceful and positive ones instead.

The three days festivities are known by various names such as “BHOGI”, SANKRANTHI and KANUMA.

Abhyaas the global school celebrated pre- ‘Sankranti’ with great pomp and splendour where students came in colourful traditional Indian dresses. All the students and teachers decorated a village hut with motifs related to Sankranti, colourful rangolies and flowers.

Bommala Koluvu was arranged with images of Gods, toys, and dolls that were brought by the students.

The celebrations were started by the Principal and parents by lightening the bonfire as a symbol of discarding outdated things and ideas welcoming new things and new ideas to prosper.

Next, kids of Nursery, LKG, UKG, Classes 1 and 2 were blessed by their Principal, teachers and parents with auspicious akshantalu, coins, berry fruits and flowers as a tradition of BHOGIAPPLLU POYADAM.advertisement

Students were reminded about the facts and celebrations related to Sankranti. They were told about the significance of each day – Bhoghi, Makar Sankranti, Kanuma and Mukkanuma.

Students in different attires of BUDABUKKALA VADU, KOMMA DASARI, PITTALA DORA, HARIDASULU, SODAMMELU, had filled the ambiance with laughter with their funny way of TRADITIONAL BHIKSHATANA.

Students danced around Gobbemmalu that were placed on colourful rangoli with the accompaniment of songs sung related to GOBBILLU.

Later, to enhance the festivities in the children, a few students dressed up to represent Suryadeva, Goda Devi, Shakuntala, Vanadeveta, Farmers and village women.

Fun did not end there, many cultural activities were performed by each class students on the theme of SANKRANTHI.

The celebrations ended with KITE flying and RANGOLI competitions.

GANIT WEEK, a program conceived, designed and organized by the Greenwood’s Department of Mathematics to commensurate with the Maths Day Celebrations, marking the Birth Anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujanon 22 December 2022, was conducted in our School.

MATHS TRIVIA, the Quiz Competition was conducted at two levels, one the Junior Quiz Competition that has been conducted for the students of Classes 6 through 8 on 05 December 2022, and the other, the Senior Quiz Competition for the students of Classes 9 and 10 on 08.12.2023.

A very meticulous, fair and transparent procedure was followed for the selection of students for the final round of this competition. A Screening Test was conducted on 25 November 2022 for juniors and on 30 Nov 2023 for seniors. In this test, as many as 450 enthusiastic students took part at the Junior Level and as many as 550 students took part at the Senior Level.32 students representing the four Houses of the school; AGNI, PRITHVI, BRAHMOS and TRISHUL, was shortlisted to take part in the final round of this competition for each of the two levels..

The 8 participants shortlisted students from each House are divided into 2 groups of 4 each. These groups have shared thefive Quiz rounds of this Quiz Competition; Motivational Round, Algebraic Round, Ramanujan Round, Visual Round, Rapid Fire Round.

The first of these rounds, the Motivational Round, is considered to be a warm up for the Quiz. Each group has got 3 questions weighing 20 points each for a direct question and 10 points for a passed question.

The second round, the Algebraic Round, consisted of 16 questions in all. These questions were based on the algebra, which is an integral part of School –Maths Curriculum.

The third round, the Ramanujan Round, consisted of questions based solely on based on the biography of Ramanujan. Through this round the unique features of Ramanujan’s life were presented to one and all. This round consisted of eight questions.

The fourth round, the Visual Round, is the most challenging round of this Quiz Competition. This Round required the contestants to identify images of the Mathematicians. To increase the spirit and thrill of the competition and to reduce the wild guessing as well, Negative Points were introduced in this round.

A month-long physical exercise for the young ladies early in the morning is indeed a blessing for them for improving their health. What physical exercise? Yes, your guess is right, embellishing mother Earth with colourful Rangavallulu, Rangoli each day for a month.

Greenwood is always the first in upholding the cultural values, tradition and heritage. Every year marking the advent of Sankranthi, a Rangoli competition is held in School for the girl children.

This year this competition was held with lot of enthusiasm, cheer and joy in front of the Girl’s Hostel on 03.01.2023. As many as twenty teams of six girls each took part in this competition exhibiting their creativity, skill and artistic talent. Their knowledge of colour combinations and blending the tradition with the present is highly commendable. All of their colorful designs are indeed a feast to the eyes of the onlookers. Sure, Mother Earth has felt extremely happy and blessed all the contestants.

It is good to know that its popularity is extended to young gentlemen and men too. Putting on Mehendi to redden the palms, hands and sometimes feet is considered not only beauty but also auspicious. In Greenwood it is always “Come January, Come Mehendi”.

Sparkling red, brightening the hands, arms and feet of girls always brings in unlimited joy to the girls. It has become a tradition to conduct a competition among the girl students of Greenwood to bring out the imbedded talent of Art of Mehendi in them.

On 02.01.2023, this competition was conducted in the school lawn in the evening . As many as 55 girls took active part in this competition. Each of these girls paired with a peer each of their choice and decorated their palms and arms to the best of their skill exhibiting their talent. It indeed was a treat for the connoisseurs to look at the sight of these many girls actively engaged in this exhibition of skill and art.

Their talent was assessed by Judges (Teachers) and the result was kept in a sealed cover. Who the winners are will only be known on the oncoming National Festival, Republic Day; 26.01.2023.

At the end of the competition our beloved Director Sri. Dr. Girrem Bharadwaja Naidu garu, the Academic Principal Sri. V.V.V. Naveen Kumar and Administrative Principal Sri. T. It has been a tradition in Greenwood to bid Good Bye to the bygone Year and Welcome the new year with a lot of fervour. And the 31 December 2022 was no exception to this.

Elaborate arrangements were made to celebrate this event with lots of pomp and gaiety. The children under the guidance of the Greenwood Art and Craft Department decorated the stage so well to set the stage for a wonderful event.

The pillars of the Greenwood, that gave a solid foundation for Greenwood, Sri. Challa Dharma Reddy garu and Sri. DR. Girrem Bharadwaja Naidu garu, Sri. Alapati Prabhu Kumar garu, Sri. Shaik Rabbani garu, The Academic Principal Sri VVV. Naveen Kumar and the Administrative Principal Sri T. Pavan Kumar graced the function by their presence.

The first ladies of the school, Smt. Jyothi garu and Smt. Padmasree Garu has added the rainbow colour to this lovely occasion by their gracious presence. The very presence of these eminent ladies and gentlemen itself brought in the much-deserved festive look to the Greenwood Open Auditorium.

This ceremony was started with the auspicious prayer invoking Lord Ganesha by rendering the shloka ‘Sukhlambaradharam’ by a group of girls. This was followed fittingly by a Welcome Dance, ‘Aigiri Nandini’ by Kushi and her friends.

And then the cloud burst of many dances and songs and lots of fun and cheer marked the rest of the program. The following list shows the extensiveness of this program presented by the Greenwood Children.

Many a time the audience had to hold their breath in wonder and surprise at the talent exhibited by our children.

Soon after the excitement of the dances is over the excitement of the sports set in. The major event of the sports ‘The Winter Sports Carnival’ was conducted from 14-11-2022 to 19-11-2022. It was very fitting that the winners of the individual events, group events belonging to all Houses (Agni, Brahmos, Prithvi and Trishul) were felicitated with a lot of grandeur.

A very transparent and meticulous system was followed by the Department of Sports and games in deciding the winners by giving a very fair chance to one and all. The winners of each event was awarded five points, the runners up three points and those in the third position got 2 points. The cumulative total points were taken into consideration in deciding the Overall Winter Sports Carnival Championship of the school.

Certificates and medals were distributed to the all the winners. It may not be exaggeration if one says that light lit on the faces of the winners at that moment was brighter than the Neon lights used to light up the Open Auditorium.

Our beloved Director, Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu lauded the efforts of the Physical Education Teachers for having conducted the Winter Sports Carnival with thumping success.

When the clock struck 12 as a ritual, the Cake Cutting was done by all the eminent dignitaries. This was followed by the exchange of ‘New Year Greeting’ among one and all.

Sri. Challa Dharma Reddy garu, our beloved Director while greeting the children advised them to focus on the academics as they have to take their examinations soon. He also wished a lot of good luck for them for their oncoming examinations.

Dr. Bharadwaja Naidu garu, the Stalwart of Education and our beloved revered Director, has commended the children in their efforts in making everything a success story in our school. He advised them to work hard for their oncoming examinations; the board examinations for the class 10 students and the Periodic Assessment 3 for the rest of the school. He further reiterated the fact that our school has got the best of the infrastructure and the students have got the advantage of the services of very good teachers who all well qualified and committed and are always ready to help the students in their studies.

Talking about the two principals, Sri. VVV. Naveen Kumar, the Academic Principal and Sri. T. Pavan Kumar, the Administrative Principal said that the School Management is extremely happy the way these two principals are coordinating and cooperating with each other and leading the school to greater heights. He also mentioned the fact that both these principals are of high standards of academic administration irrespective of their designations. He expressed the strong hope that under their administration the academics of the school certainly would scale new heights.

He further appealed all the teaching staff to put in their best efforts to push the standard of Greenwood Education a step up.

Thus Greenwood gave a fitting farewell to the year 2022 and a befitting welcome to the year 2023.

By afternoon we visited Taj Mahal (Built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal) one of the modern seven wonders of the world. The majestic view of Taj Mahal along with its chahar bagh, Yamuna river view from its plinth and central dome that reaches upto 73 meters was a feast for eyes.

The next day i.e., on 14-12-2022, we visited FATEHPUR SIKRI, a city established by Akbar. Inside the Fatehpur Sikri there are different monuments such as Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panchmahal, Jodha Bai Mahal, Anup talab, Naubat Khana and Ibadat Khana. The biggest attraction of Fatehpur Sikri was Buland Darwaja.

MATHURA AND VRINDAVAN

On the way to Amritsar, the city of Golden Temple, we had a brief visit to Mathura and Vrindavan, the places associated with the glory of Lord Sri Krishna.The tumultuous past of Mathura with its chunk of history, linked with the heart of millions of devotees across the globe, the mere presence inside Krishna Janmabhoomi temple makes someone calm, composure and devotional.

Vrindavan, little far from Mathura is a place associated with the childhood days of Lord Sri Krishna. Though there are hundreds of Temples dedicated to the supreme Deity of Hinduism, Prem Mandir stands apart.

Made from Italian Marble, it transport its beholders to another level of experience. The play of modern lights on the shining marbles of the temple worth mentioning here. The Temple Campus of Prem Mandir has all the elements that glorifies the earthly as well as divine deeds of Lord Krishna, be it stealing butter, killing of demons, playing with Sudama, Kaliya Dalan and many more.

The experiences that we had after visiting to these places undoubtedly transformed us from merely a bookish learner to a learner with a new vision and new experience.

The celebration kick started with the melodious Songs and a quiz on important events that marked 2022 to stand Unique. Students took part with enthusiasm as it was a great opportunity to gain points for their HOUSE.

As it suites to make new resolutions on the NEW YEARs day, Students were motivated to do MEDITATION for 10minutes and take a resolution for the year 2023. As the students were involved in meditation teachers provided each student with a balloon. Once after opening their eyes the students have written their resolution on the balloon given to them and sent them upward as if to offer them to God, which made the crowd to get into the festive fervor and enjoy themselves.

Japan is known as one of the best places to live as people of Japan understand what the correct way of living and its purpose behind.

Mathematics quiz is a brief assessment used in education to measure growth in terms of knowledge, abilities and skills. It helps to enhance the interest among the students towards the subject and also creates a conductive environment to work in groups outside the classroom.

A little competition can inspire students to greater achievements. It challenges students to use their math skills in new and creative ways. It also provides challenging and engaging mathematical experience, both competitive and educational.

As a part of extended learning of Mathematics, “ Qubi Quest “was conducted in ABHYAAS The Global School. Students from across the 4 houses participated in this Quiz competition.

There were three levels, students who qualified in level 1, were selected to level 2 and level 3. There were three rounds in each level. The Main objective of the quiz was to encourage children to look beyond their textual knowledge and relieve the tension of their daily work routine. Children had a good team spirit wherein “small to big” all students were busy and giving tough fight to make their team win.

After a tough fight, the positions bagged by the 4 different HOUSES are as followed:

From Seniors category, Rishith and Badri, won the TROPHY for Emerald House.

From Super-Seniors category, Ameema Meher and Siddharth Varma of Ruby house snatched the TROPHY in a nail biting competition.

The Sub-juniors category involved little mathematicians; Ajit and Harshith have won the TROPHY for Ruby House.

From the Juniors category, Vyshnavi and Shanmukh have won the TROPHY for Diamond House.

My warm wishes to you. I want to suggest you how to utilize our REVISION PROGRAM to get maximum benefits.

I feel that no one in this world is born without intelligence.

God has given every one the same composition of mind. It depends on you how to utilize it for your success.

If you have a definite target in life, you can easily collect all your
powers and focus them on that goal.

If you remain determined for your goal, just like the pole star, you would not be affected by any challenges or struggle of your life. If you become a pole star, your future generations would respect you and follow in your footsteps.

The famous English poet, Robert Frost, has written a poem. I would like to quote some lines here to focus more on that topic

Woods are lovely, dark and deep,
And I’ve promises to keep.
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Here, the line “And miles to go before I sleep” has been repeated.
This is an emphasis on the self-determination and strong resolution of a person who wants to do a lot before he sleeps (dies).

You are self-illuminated, just like the Sun. You possess fuel in the form of energy and wick in the form of willpower. Then, which power can stop you from getting lighted up or move towards your goal?

You keep sharpening your willpower and caliber at all points of time. Learn to trust yourself. You possess unlimited powers within you. Do not let your self-confidence go down. Keep yourself enlightened and aware;

if you do so on a consistent basis, no one can stop you from succeeding.

The most beautiful thing in this world is to see your parents smiling and
the next best thing is to know that you are the reason behind that smile.

Most of the students are functionally very strong and behaviorally very weak and often their reason for failure is not lack of knowledge or hard work but lack of motivation and positive attitude. And for you to have positive attitude towards your preparation, it is very important to answer the following question.

” Why am I studying” ?

Every task should have a sense of purpose or motive behind it.

So, first define the purpose whether

it is your passion

to make your parents happy

or something else.

Some important tips to follow :

# Results of a survey said that the difference between topper and slow learner is not much in terms of subject knowledge, intelligence or hard work, but the major difference is in terms of study techniques and approach towards exam.

# You should possess a great determination so that you are ready to quit (sacrifice) the most important things you like. (Watching movies or chatting with friends or something else)

# Have concrete faith in you. You are what your thoughts are. If you think you can, then you can.

Small Tip: To achieve this state of mind, stop speaking negative about anyone or anything and see the magical power of your brain.

To get benefit in revision plan :

# Though we give a revision plan, every student must plan again in that according to his/her abilities. Suppose if you are given 2 hours for Social, then you should preplan how and what to study in that given time.

# Analyze yourself daily in the night whether you prepared the whole day as you wished. If not, then list out the mistakes made by you like chatting with friends, wasting time, not taking care of health etc. and plan accordingly how to rectify them the next day.

# Write your purpose in a book to excel in exams and read that daily at least once.

# Teachers are there to guide and support you. So, you should not hesitate to ask them even a single thing which obstructs your growth.

# This is exclusively for those who struggle to pass in the exams. Follow the
instructions given by your teachers sincerely. Do not think negatively about
them. They are just to guide you and support you.

# Suppose if you are good at Maths then give more time for preparing other subjects.

Mindset before writing an exam.

# Say to yourself before writing every exam that this is the final exam and you should put forth your maximum efforts to excel in it.

# Don’t forget to revise what you had read so many days before the exam.

# Every exam conducted will show how you have prepared for that exam.

# Your performance in exams indicates your preparation.

# Every exam gives you a chance to rectify yourself before writing the final exam.

What to do after an exam is conducted (or) papers are given back?

Analyze yourself in the following areas.

Have I presented in order ?

Handwriting

Neatness

Mistakes

Your absolute ( maximum) score.

Plan yourself how to rectify the above .

Write all the mistakes done by you in a book, Inspite of your sincere efforts, you have committed that mistakes. Hence, you should revise every time from then onwards before writing any exam in that chapter.

# Rectification is the only way to develop yourself.

Things to be kept in mind:

# You are going to revise each chapter you have studied only after 2 months. So you have to revise thoroughly now itself so that it takes very less time after 2 months.

# Your daily analysis and performance analysis in exam are going to take you to the expected peaks.

# Never think of any other thing or the persons till you reach your goal.

How to overcome exam tension?

Speak openly with your friends or teachers about your problem and follow their suggestions.

(Mind is like a parachute, it works best when it is open)

One more suggestion is that it would be better if you get experience before writing the
schedule tests. i.e. ask your friend / teacher to conduct a pretest and analyze not to repeat the mistakes.

NOTE :

Whenever you are not getting out of your problems,

read this once again. You will definitely find a solution.

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). By damaging the human immune system, HIV interferes with the body’s ability to fight infection and disease.

HIV is a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI). It can also be spread by contact with infected blood and from illicit injection drug use or sharing needles. It can also be spread from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.

We are aware that in our country, due to many cultural and social stigmas talking about sex is tabooed. Everyone hesitates to talk about this in public and even forbids its discussion at all levels. But the clear, transparent knowledge of this is essential for one and all as the spreading of AIDS, the most dreaded disease, is directly or indirectly connected to unnatural and illegitimate aspect it.

LET’s BREAK the SILENCE & TALK

With a clear and coherent view of spreading this message and knowledge as well among the children and all others connected with our school, our Department of Science has organized many a program in our school.

On 30 November 2022, the students of class 10 exhibited a number of charts that depicted everything that is to be known by each and every one about AIDS. These charts were so well prepared that by just looking at them and reading them everyone can understand with ease the form, cause and prevention of this cureless disease.

The talent of the children in making these colorful and imaginative charts which attracted many to them and made them pay attention to the message they are intended to spread is certainly praise worthy. These students even explained everything about AIDS so well with clarity and coherence overcoming the taboos and stigmas. This indeed is the need of the hour.

On 01 December 2022, an awareness program was arranged in the school premises to commensurate with the World AIDS Day in our school auditorium at 06.00 p.m. Three eminent doctors who have been associated with the AIDS Prevention Program of the Government, working at the District Head Quarters Hospital, MGM, Dr. Lohitha, Dr. Navya and Dr. Sai Krishna took part in this program. They imparted so much knowledge about everything one has to know about this fatal disease. The benefit our children reaped from this program is boundless. The Interactive Session that followed between these eminent doctors and the students proved to be very informative, educative and path defining for one and all.

The children of class 9 had performed a skit bringing out the message ‘Hate the Disease Not the Diseased’ Which was very informative and educative despite its heavy theme.

Dr.G.Bharadwaja Naidu, in his address reiterated the fact that “It is time, we all realized that spreading the knowledge and awareness is the best tool to prevent this deadly disease. Above all we all must accept and practice the motto of this effort and program ‘Hate the Disease Not the Diseased’”

Our Director, Dr. Bharadwaja Naidu, Sri. A. Prabhu Kumar, the Chief Executive Officer, Sri. T. Pavan Kumar, the Administrative Principal, the teachers from the Greenwood Science and other Departments and many members of the support staff took active part in this program.

All the children have talent hidden in them. Many times, this hidden talent won’t show up itself. It has to be unearthed and help the children achieve their potential to the fullest.

GN Foundation is one that makes an earnest effort to bring out the knowledge, ability and talent among the Greenwood Children. A yearly talent test is conducted by this GN Foundation in our School. This test comes with a bonanza of Tablets, Medals, Books and Shields for the winners.

Today in our school the GN Foundation conducted RMTH(REGIONAL MATHEMATICS TALENT HUNT) for the Greenwood students of classes VI through X.

The most interesting, if not attractive, part of today’s test is that it has come out within a very appealing format with a number of questions in different levels of difficulty; a true attempt to bring out the real champion and help the validation of the test for future use.

Today, being the test day, an atmosphere of excitement, enthusiasm and expectation has set in the school campus right from the morning. The outcome of this effort; the real champions of Greenwood, is eagerly awaited.

The Program started with the Flag hoisting by our Principal Ms. Manjula Devi ,followed with the splendid March Past by the four house groups and than Lighting of torch .

The little tots of Grade -2 came up with scintillating performances as they danced to the melodious tunes with Hula Hoop .

Formation of GWHS by Grade I students tied the entire show and left everyone spellbound with cheerful faces.

The event was characterized by the sweet and savory relationship between the grandparents and the grand children in the Zumba dance with hands held together portraying their fondness and affection for each other. The children were very excited to showcase their love for their grandparents and this was evident on their faces while they were performing. It was a moment of elation to see the happiness ushering in the faces of all the grandparents who made the most of this wonderful day with happiness.

The Games started with the ‘Oath Taking Ceremony’ by the students in which they pledged to play with sportsmanship besides keeping in mind all the rules and regulations of different events.

First game started with LKG students “Funny Bunny Carrot Race” in which the grandparents and the children participated.

The students of Nursery played “Tie and Fly “ game along with grandparents.

Principal Ms. Manjula Devi addressed the gathering and explained the benefits of playing sports, how it helps to stay fit both mentally and physically. she requested the students to participate in more sports activities. She also reiterated the role of Grandparents in all our lives, as Grandparents are “ A little bit of parents, a little bit of teacher and a little bit of friend”.

The Grandparents appreciated and shared their views on the Greenwood High School effort to make a connection between the generations through these events.

we have organized great carnival of Christmas. The entire campus was beautifully embellished with flowers, lights, posters, and models filled with cheer. Carols were sung, skits and dances were performed by our lovely children. Teachers delivered the significance of the festival in their little talks.
Little Champs took part in this event, made it splendid.
Our beloved principals Mr. Chandra Mohan & Mr. Ayub and ACO Mrs. Kanthi spoke a few words on the occasion.

Is self discipline important in one’s life?!

“Discipline is rarely enjoyable but almost always profitable” – Darrin Patrick

Discipline is considered a particularly valuable skill in students’ life, where they encounter tough situations on a regular basis.

People who are disciplined are also more likely to be able to focus on long-term goals and solutions rather than seek instant gratification.

This means that disciplined individuals will work hard to meet goals and they will continue to push forward even when working on tedious, boring or otherwise difficult tasks at their learning stages.

Not giving in to something is considered a sign of strength and leadership, and it’s commended and respected at all levels of societal interactions, especially at higher level tasks.

Self discipline can help students to achieve.

Self Control : Which helps them to adhere to the given task, therefore, they can get better with their efficiency.

Time Management: They can spend their time in doing productive works, can control their tasks and complete in advance, therefore they will have more time to spend with friends and family.

Reduces stress levels : It helps them to elevate their productivity levels and quality parameters as they have more time in hand. Also they can spend their time sharpening their skill sets by reading blogs, article, and reference books related to subjects.

“Christmas waves a magic wand over the world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”

The much-awaited festival of Christmas was celebrated with fervor and zeal virtually on 24^th of December by the children of Pre-Primary and Primary at Greenwood High School, Hunter road. Students from Nursery to Grade Class V took part in it. It was fascinating sight to see the tiny-tots dressed as Santa Claus and Angel.

The programme began with importance of Christmas followed by the prayer song .The students presented a thought-provoking skit which emphasised that Christmas was more than just Santa, cards, toys or gifts under the Christmas tree .The story of Christmas portraying the simplicity and grandeur of the birth of Jesus Christ on this earth. The children spoke lines highlighting the true meaning of the decorations like the ‘Christmas Tree’, Candy Cane, ‘Lights’, ‘Star and Bell’ that are used for decorating the Christmas tree.

There was carol singing by the students from the Grade-3, this along with a dance by the students added to the festive atmosphere.

Principal Ms. Manjula Devi has cut the Christmas cake and distributed cake ,chocolate to the students and wished the staff and students in advance “Happy Christmas”.

Today, we at Abhyaas the global school have celebrated Mathematics Day in honor of Srinivasa Ramanujan, a legendary Indian mathematician whose contribution in the field led to the resolution of many unsolved theorems.

Parents, Teachers and students got caught up with the buzz as they visited the myriad stalls set up by kiddos from Grade 3 to Grade 9 to showcase their projects. All participants had a great day, racking their rusted brains at some stalls or sharpening them at some other stalls. Parents who came to attend the Parents Teachers Meeting were pleasantly surprised to see the budding mathematicians explaining their projects or encouraging their audience to participate in both the math activities and the fun games.

From understanding the intriguing Pythagoras theorem to a fun game of finding the day, if the date or month or year was given, the students of Class 9 entertained and educated people using novel ways and methods and the brilliant learners won the chance to play fun games

The students of Class 8 treated all present with a memory game on fractions, jigsaw puzzles using different shapes and finding squares and square roots of numbers by playing a shooting game.

Class 7 students helped their friends in identifying monomials, binomial and trinomials and also in finding the mean, mode and median in 3 different levels using play way methods.

The students of Class 6 enthralled their audience giving them chances to solve riddles by playing a ring game and brush up on their tables by using a dot board game.

Class 5 students endeared themselves by requesting their friends and teachers to play a game on comparison of fractions and matching fractions to their decimal form and the lucky winners transferred Thermocol balls from one bowl to another bowl with two toothpicks.

Grade 4 kids taught division through a division machine and they taught subtraction using flash cards.

The tiny tots of Grade 3 also chipped in to give an explanation of 2D or Flat shapes and 3D or Solid shapes.

A discourse the life and works of the Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan saw the culmination of a well planned event by the Mathematics teachers

Parents were so caught up with the excitement that they lamented on the fact that they were unable to visit all the stalls due to shortage of time because of their prior commitments elsewhere.

The English Club Activity which was carried out on 16^th December 2022 was enhanced with the presence of Principal Manjula ma’am, ACO Harshavardhan Sir, and all the teachers of English Department. The program started with great enthusiasm and excitement of the students.

All the sections of grade 8 (Bose, Einstein, Newton, Raman and Ramanujan) gathered in the school ground around 1:30 PM, and the show began at 2 o’clock.

The session started with an amazing role-play of grammar topic Parts of speech by students of Bose, followed by the breathtaking performances of the students from Einstein with topics like Respect everyone and Power of Intelligence.. The two sections sparked great excitement among the audience who encouraged them throughout.

The program continued with the students of Newton who showed their stunning acting skills. The audience was especially active throughout their performance and appreciated them for their work. Each and every group has performed wonders, but the highlight performance for this section was Say No To Drugs.

Moving forward we welcomed Raman students to make the stage theirs. The students showed their wonderful skills and presented topics like Save Nature and Time and Tide Waits for None.

Moving towards the final performances, the stage was taken over by the students of Ramanujan, who not only imparted lessons but also gave the elements of laughter to the audience with topics like The king and the Golden touch and Environmental safety.

All the little performers were appreciated by Principal madam for their tremendous performance. . The students expressed their gratitude as they got a chance to show their skills and talents. Through this activity they gained a lot of confidence and are eager to participate in the upcoming activities as well.
