News Channels – Impact on the young generation.

A  few years ago, TV channels used to allot roughly half an hour per day for broadcasting news. But now we have 24/7 news channels.

News channels help people in staying aware of the happenings around the world,  strengthen democracy by taking steps to ensure transparency in the government. Now those who have power are afraid of news channels, which are taking responsibility to question them on behalf of people.

Until a few years ago, not many people were interested in watching the news. But these days, news channels are as interesting and colourful as entertainment channels. 

As long as the news is delivered genuinely, without any biased opinions and personal or political interests,  it would definitely be informative to the students.

On the contrary,  news channels are exaggerating each and every news and projecting them as breaking news just to grab attention.  They sensationalize everything just for TRP ratings. This is creating unnecessary panic and restlessness among the younger generation.

News channels are concentrating mainly on negative news such as tragic incidents, crime etc. To earn more money, many news channels are opting for paid news and are manipulating people. This phenomenon is on the rise especially at the time of elections and this is resulting in a lack of trust on news channels. 

Some political parties have news channels of their own. This results in biased news to influence voters.  We at schools, cultivate habits like addressing the higher authorities like Ministers and people discharging duties at higher levels with high respect by adding titles like, ‘Sri’, ‘Sir’, ‘honorable’ etc.,.. But these days because of the DEBATES that are being conducted in the national level channels, students are loosing the habit of respecting officials, instead addressing any one in a familiar or friendly manner is taken for granted.

These days, news channels often take up the role of investigators at crime scenes. They explain everything in minute detail. This is influencing some youngsters to commit  crimes as they now know the process to do it. In this way, news channels keep people updated about new ways of committing crimes, which is changing the mind set of adolescents into thinking of crime as  a passion.

If there is an incident of a clash between communities, news channels will telecast that all day. This results in increasing hatred among people. 

As news channels report crimes every hour, people feel as if there is crime everywhere. This makes people feel unsafe. Constant feeling of uneasiness, directly affects their mental health. What we consume has a direct impact on our happiness levels too.

Hence our role as educators and parents,  should be more concentrated on their mental health as they get exposure to many kinds of negative things through social media. Observe what they are watching, what they are doing and guide them on the right direction.  Provide space for them to interact with you on daily basis without any  fear or consciousness. Join your hands with us in this journey of making intellectual future citizens for a healthy society.

“Red Colour Day” Celebrations in Abhyaas The Global School

Since RED is the colour of Blood, it has historically been associated with “sacrifice”, “courage”, “bravery”, and “vigor”.  To instill this quality in children, “’Red Colour Day” was celebrated  today by the tiny tots of the Pre-primary wing of Abhyaas The Global School.

Teachers dressed in red,  invited each of their kids who were in red too, with beautiful “Apple magic wands ”in their hands and “Cherry Bows” to their neck.

The festive mood started by inviting their loving Principal  to their activity hall, with there’d roses, little RED Boys and Girls competed with each other to shower red rose petalson her to show their love.

The children spoke a few lines about red colour and recited rhymes like ‘Red Red Apple’ to suit the occasion.

Bright little Viraj Gangula of  UKG, spoke about his favourite colour which is also a primary colour. You guessed it right, it’s Red Colour!

Red is bright and beautiful. Viraj said that it is found everywhere in many fruits like apples, cherries, strawberries, watermelons and pomegranates,  vegetables like tomatoes and red chilies and in flowers like hibiscus and rose.

Pretty Relina Princess of LKG, spoke about a ‘Red Juicy Tomato’ that is a very healthy vegetable.

As there were many fruits, vegetables, flowers and toys displayed, Principal Ma’am played a little game of “Treasure Hunt” where she asked the kids to name any red coloured  thing that was displayed in that hall, find and bring it to her.

Both teachers and students admired and enjoyed the red ambiance to their heart’s content.

Greenwood’s Achievement in an Inter-School Competition

Inter-school competitions are held on various topics, throughout the year involving several schools. This is a very healthy thing as a student is assessed, not only within the school, but is compared with the students of all the other schools too. These competitions give the younger generation a boost and raise their confidence while progressively developing a positive attitude towards competitions.

A student of Greenwood High School, Hunter Road, Warangal , R Tejaswi of 9th Einstein bought a great achievement for her and the school by winning 1st prize in an inter-school competition. 

The competitions were held in Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan. Nearly 40-45 schools participated in this event on 26th November 2022. The competitions held were: 

  1. Declamation 
  2. Essay writing 
  3. Painting 

Tejaswi moved  heaven and earth to showcase her talent in-front of all the esteemed panel present there. She had taken part in Declamation and everyone were  awestruck with her language, presentation, and mesmerising style . The speech worked in her favour and she defeated everyone with her powerful language. 

Finally the prize distribution took place in New Creation High School, Jangaon on 10th December 2022. 

Tejaswi came of with flying colours and was presented with a Shield Certificate, Story books and cash prize of Rs 3000. 

She has brought  a great achievement for the school and for herself. We hope this success continues in the future and she finds her talents by being a part of Greenwood High School.

Educational Trip for class 6-8

An educational trip is very useful. It enables the students to visit different places. They learn many things when they go to various places. The educational trip enriches their knowledge and broadens their outlook.

This year Greenwood High School had organized an educational trip on 7th and 8th December 2022 for students of grade 6 – 8 .

The trip was divided into 2 days

( Day 1 : All the Grade 6th student and 2 section of 7th )

( Day 2 : All the Grade 8th students along with the other 2 section of 7th)

Students and parents were informed about the trip one week in advance.

Our ACO Harshavardha  sir personally informed all the section of 6th 7th & 8th about the trip and the details that were to be kept in mind during the journey. 

Students were told to bring snacks and lunch as the trip duration was 7 hours. 

On the fixed days students had gathered in the school ground and boarded the bus at 9 o clock, along with their guide teachers. Five busses were allotted for the  students followed by 2 guide teacher per bus. Finally  We hit the road. 

First, the students were taken to Regional Science Center which is 3.6 KM from school. There they saw many different experiments. working models, machines and theoretical projects as well. 

What excited the students most was a machine where they could  check their weights on different planets of our solar system. 

They got to experience different illusions and see the model of a human DNA. 

They also learnt how 3 Dimensional images actually look 3D and the theory behind it. 

By the time the tour of the Science Center was done it was almost 12 o clock. Students had their snacks in the rest area, played some games and looked around, they also found some weight lifting equipment which were connected to science topics. 

The second part of the tour began at 12:30 as the students boarded the busses and began the journey to Nagarjuna Milk Product Dairy which is approximately 30 KM from the Regional Science Center. It took us about 1 hour to reach the Dairy. As soon as the busses reached students and staff had lunch from 1:30 to 2:00. 

Finally the tour of the dairy farm started. Students were divided into groups of 4 to enter the dairy and explore the process: How the milk is heated in bulk, how the sweets are made, how paneer is processed and stored. They also showed the equipments used for the chill room, where all the frozen items are stored.  

After the tour, students purchased yummy and tasty flavored milk ( Badam and pista) and  ate doodh peda sweet which was made fresh in the dairy. The manager treated the students with a glass of milk and biscuits after the tour. 

We called it a day and 1st bus left the dairy around 3:15 followed by other busses in the interval of 5 minutes each. ACO Harshavardhan Sir and Srikant Sir guided the students all along  and made the trip easy going. 

Students really enjoyed the trip and learned many new things during the tour. They also made the journey to and fro really lively with many different games played throughout. It was indeed an unforgettable trip.

An exam tests how the student has performed on a distinct day. It is not a genuine source of grading a student’s knowledge and intelligence. If a student scores well all year but disappoints to perform well on the day of the exam due to any reason, would that mean lack of performance of the student or lack of knowledge of the student on that day? One should think of answering this themselves and then comprehend how fairly students are assessed based on a piece of paper.

Every year millions of learners around the globe take exams, and most of them work hard and struggle to accomplish good grades because they desire to prove they are the best. This competition encourages students to work harder and acts as a motivation for them. The most significant part is that students learn to manage competition which they are unquestionably going to face later in life.

Practical exams strengthen confidence and dispense the real picture of the individual. Learning and reading technical lines from the book can make the individual think that they are equipped to face challenges in life but practicing it in real life shows how much more they need to work.

In order to score well, students usually focus more on rote rehearsal and ignore the concepts. They do receive good grades, but the price is the reduced knowledge because, after some days, most students forget what they learned, and the effort of schools/colleges goes down the drain. This approach minimizes the practical capabilities of students. The grades these students gain in exams won’t guarantee success in practical life!

As soon as the season of the exam arrives, it brings stress and anxiety with it. The stress of scoring well in an exam and the anxiety of failing an exam can make life very challenging for students. Some stress is necessary to motivate students to study, but extreme stress can lead to increased blood pressure and other serious health issues.

During exams, the child may fear about receiving bad grades, which destroy their happiness. A distressed child is more likely to get depressed, and this can be very harmful to their health. Depression originated by exams can have a very adverse impact on the child’s being!

 The learning capacity is different for every child. A significant problem caused by examinations is the comparison that is created between children/students, ignoring the fact that all individuals are distinct from each other. Some students learn new concepts efficiently, while others are more skilled at sports.

On the other hand, there is no doubt that Examination can energize students, rendering them motivation to learn things. Quite like games, exams also generate competition among students. Exams are a push and pressure that every student necessitates in life. Exams examine not only a student but also improve their knowledge.

Hence as parents and Educators, it is more important to strike a balance and create better learning environment for children both at School and at Home….

‘Social Club Activity of class 6’ @ Greenwood Hunter Road

Continuing with the initiative to conduct regular club activities for the students, Greenwood High School held yet another club activity on 2nd December, 2022 for the students of 6th standard. 

The Social Club Activity was graced with the presence of the Principal Manjula Ma’am, ACO Harshavardhan Sir and HOD of Social Science Sudheer Sir. The students of 6th grade (Raman, Ramanujan,  Bose and Newton sections) presented various activities in like model exhibitions and presentations on historical monuments, the solar system, volcanic eruption etc. They also dressed up in various traditional attires of different states of India to showcase the diversity of our country.

The students also showed their strong attachment to the country by dressing up and portraying our historic freedom fighters and politicians who have made a mark in the nation building. They performed skits on various topics like Ashoka and the Kalinga War; groups of people who are subjected to discrimination: apartheid system in South Africa; evolution of humans, etc. 

The program concluded with the Principal’s note where she appreciated the students  and encouraged them to always seize every opportune moment to improve themselves and also announced the winners of the day. A team from each of the four sections was chosen as winner. The teams which made it to the list included Emerald team of 6th Raman, Emeral team of 6th Ramanujan, Diamond team of 6th Bose and Ruby team of 6th Newton.

Social Club activities inculcate various democratic values and qualities like tolerance, equality ,freedom and leadership etc. among the children.

Our Beloved Principal ,ACO were present as the most awaited Social Club Activity had began..

The programme started with the  dance on the national song of India ,it was the mesmerizing  performance given the pretty girls of Grade IV , the programme  continued  with the importance of  Social studies and its branches .

To teach the children moral values ,life lessons  and to inculcate good manners, social behavior, and respect for elders  a skit have been performed.

There are different regions in India and each region shows different cultures and traditions. Unity in diversity in India is living proof that despite different religions, cultures, and languages people of India live together with love and peace, to show this the children were dressed in costumes representing different states of  India. It was a treat for the eyes to see them dressed in colorful  attire. They  greeted in their local language and prepared famous dishes of that state .

As a part of the Disaster Management, the Department of Social Science, Greenwood High  School , Hanmakonda hosted an Educative programme in  the school campus.

The Department of Fire , Hanmakonda, demonstrated fire safety measures in the School Campus on 02-12-22 , from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Mr. Nagaraju ,the FIRE OFFICER, Hanmakonda was the Chief Guest. Dr. Girrem Bharadwaja Naidu, (the Director  of Greenwood Group of Schools) inaugurated the event. He was accompanied by Mr. A. Prabhu Kumar ( C.E.O), Mr. T. Pavan Kumar, the Administrative Principal. Mr. Satheesan Achari, (HOD, Social Science) and Mr. Ranjit Behara (Faculty of Social Science). Dr. Girrem Bharadwaja Naidu delivered the welcome Speech. All the teachers of Social Science as well as other Teaching and non- teaching staff were present.

Mr. Nagaraju and his team gave an excellent demonstration on fire safety measures. He explained precautions to be taken while using L.P.G. cylinder, Three stages  of safety on handling any mishaps related to L.P.G connection at home.

The program was an eye opener to the audience. The children have gained knowledge related to fire safety. He also demonstrated the various ways by which we can overcome the tragedy and how to manage it without panic.

Mr. Nagaraju and other staff of Fire Department also gave demonstration on different ways to deal with major fire accidents like fire in Business Establishments, Commercial buildings and Residential Complex etc. The event was very informative for the students as well as teachers.

N0VEMBER 26th was celebrated as National Constitution Day in the school campus. The Department of Social Science organized an informative program to commemorate the adoption of Our Indian Constitution on 26 NOV 1949.

As a part of this event, an assembly was conducted in the morning. The teachers and students took a PLEDGE ON PREAMBLE OF THE CONSTITUTION. Neelakshi Tinge of 10th Edison administered the pledge.

Cultural Events & Educational awareness programmes were conducted in the school open auditorium from 3:00pm.

Honorable Director Sri. Dr. Girrem Bharadwaja Naidu was the Chief Guest of the programme.

Mr. T. Pavan Kumar, Administrative Principal and Mr. Phani Bhushan accompanied our Director Sir. The event was started with Patriotic song by Eekshitha & group of class 9.
K. Jhashmitha of 10th Kalam & Tanisha Dubba of 10 Edison anchored the programme.
E. Hasini of 6th Pasteur costumed as Bharath Matha.
T. Arun Babu of 9th Satish Dhawan gave a speech on the Importance of the Preamble.
Girl students of 8th class presented a skit on SECULARISM, which was an eye opener.
The Highlight of the event was the figure depicts of the major members of the Constituent Assembly by the students.

Students took part in Figure presentation with the true spirit of patriotism.

Timeline of formation of The Constitution of India

6 December 1946: Formation of the Constitution Assembly (in accordance with French practice).
9 December 1946: The first meeting was held in the constitution hall (now the Central Hall of Parliament House The 1st person to address was J. B. Kripalani, Sachchidananda Sinha became temporary president.
11 December 1946: The Assembly appointed Rajendra Prasad as its president.
H. C. Mukherjee as its vice-chairman and B. N. Rau as constitutional legal adviser. (There were initially 389 members in total, which declined to 299 after partition. Out of the 389 members, 292 were from government provinces, four from chief commissioner provinces and 93 from princely states.)

” India’s Constitution is the largest written constitution of the world. THE VALUES AND PRINCIPLES that are enshrined in the Constitution are the guidelines for the life of the people of India as it is a secular nation. It is really amazing that our Constitution was written in a short span of 3 years. I think no other country has such an achievement. That’s why Our Constitution became the largest written Constitution of the world. You the children, are the future citizen’s of our country. It is your responsibility, uphold the basic values of our constitution.

An Educative Workshop on.. “GOOD TOUCH & BAD TOUCH.”

A day was specially dedicated to safeguard and protect our children and give them the warmth of wellbeing through a planned program on “Good touch and Bad touch”. The children learnt to identify the “No touch” areas and understood that who are safe adults and whom to report when there is an alarming situation .They also learnt to handle strangers and say ‘NO’ to uncomfortable touch.

The moto of the session was to enlighten the children that their body belongs to them and they need to stay safe and secure.

Good touch is a wonderful way to create bonding with children, they are nice, warm and make us feel protected. Where as, the bad touch is a feeling of fear, discomfort and distress.

This workshop was conducted ,Mrs. Anitha, Mrs. Kanthi and Mrs. Nita, who brought out the importance by demonstrating with dolls and students on live.

Children are taught the difference between the safe zones and red zones of their own body. They also learnt swim suit rule to understand it in a better way.

The session winded up with some special defense tips performed by Ms. Chaitanya to safeguard themselves in unexpected situations.

Relishing a surprise dish brought by their dear friend is the theme of this garden party.

Greenwood as usual has come up with this unique creative idea of POT LUCK LUNCH.

It is a communal gathering where children of Primary bought variety of dishes which are homemade and are enjoyed by their lucky school mates and friends.

It created more fun among students and brought out the mood of celebration with their songs, dances and fun games.

The theme of this POT LUCK LUNCH is to pull all the five senses into the experience. Not only that,it also helps developing bonding among pupil irrespective of their caste,creed and gender.

Educational Field Trip to Nagarjuna Dairy

The students of Class VIII and IX (about 600) are taken to the Nagarjuna Dairy near Huzurabad. Prior to the trip School Director Sri. Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu, Academic Principal Mr. V.V.V. Naveen Kumar and Administrative Principal Mr. T. Pavan Kumar briefed the students about how to prepare themselves for any field trip.

The trip to the Dairy was highly informative. Students learned about various ways of collection of milk from farmers, checking the quality of milk by using Lactometer(device used to check the quality of milk), Pasteurization – Boiling the milk in containers at very high temperature (80OC) and to bring the boiled milk to normal temperature by using Ammonia gas, way of cooling the Ammonia gas to normal temperature, separation of cream from milk by centrifugation technique, Preparation of Curd Culture, conversion of milk to curd, packing of milk and curd, preparation of flavored milk like Badam milk and Pista milk, preparation of milk sweets like Doodh Peda etc, purifying the used water in the Dairy and its utilization in gardening, cleaning of containers by using Nitric Acid, Caustic Soda and Hot water.

On the whole, the trip was informative, enriching and empowering for the student.  Such informative education was gained by the students because of the Managing Director of Nagarjuna Dairy, Mr. Ganesh (a former student of Greenwood High School) and the whole team of Dairy for explaining all the activities that take place in their Dairy in a detailed way.

The best part of the trip was the milk, biscuits and Doodh Peda given by the Management of the Dairy to the students.  It showed the hospitality of the Nagarjuna Dairy Management.

Later, as a part of science activity the students had an active interaction with the farmers about crop rotation, farming techniques and harvesting. The live interaction with farmers has shown them the value and hardship in farming.

Morning assembly is a part of every school life. Children come together for the prayer and see different informative acts done by one respective class. 

Greenwood assemblies are unique in their own way. Every Thursday the school cabinet comes together to show their leadership quality and help the students learn some values with fun. 

Today (17-11-22) our Director Sir Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu sir had come to the school premises and started the proceeding by hoisting the Indian Flag, everyone gave a salute and sang the national song to respect the flag. It was follow by our Head-girl hoisting the school flag and then Ruby president hoisting the Ruby flag.

Word of encouragement were given by the head-girl as the mid term exams are approaching.

Good thought with its meaning made the day whole lot better. 

A lot of activities were held in Greenwood in the past month. In presence of Director Sir, we took the opportunity to reward the students who did their best and appealed themselves throughout the activities held in school.

First English Club activity ( class 7)  winner were announced and certificate were given,

1st and 2nd prize were crowned to students of 7th Bose who showcased their amazing acting skills.

Science Club activity (class 8)  winners were announced and certificates were given,

1st prize – 8th Newton 

2nd prize – 8th Ramanujan

Coming to the big event GIST. To encourage all the young minds, not one or two but multiple certificates were given to students from Each category of Science.

 Students were joyful and decides to Move Heaven and Earth for the upcoming events.

Coming to the finale, certificates were given to NCC. National Cadet Corps students, who went to the CATC (Combine Annual Training Camp – IX) in the month of November. 

Director sir expressed his thoughts and appreciated all the students for their achievements. He also motivated all the other students To Come Off With Flying Colours in the upcoming exams.

November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day or Bal Diwas every year in India. The special day is celebrated in remembrance of India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru.

The day focused on children and their enjoyment. Greenwood High School Hunter Road celebrated children’s day with a lot fun and enthusiasm. Students of class 6th– 8th gathered in the ground to celebrate the event. The program started with an informative speech given on Cha-cha Nehru by Manure of class 8. Followed by an amazing song and dance performance by children of class 6 to 8.

Students of different class and section came together to perform and make this day more memorable for all of us. Students did group dance and singing performances on songs like Pranavalaya and Gananayaka.

Speech on ‘Emergence of Children’s Day’ was brought into light by Ayush a student of class 8th. . Followed by a very informative speech about the ‘value of children in world’ by Vyshnavi of class 8th . 

Boys and girls showed lavishing dance performances on song Morini Banke and Jamiki Kamal. The audience was very supportive and showed great energy as the event was going on. Children were Happy Go Lucky throughout the event.

Students also showed their melodious voices by singing Evaru Rayagalaru and Hey Keshava. 

Teacher’s  played their important role on this day by guiding the  students to prepare  various skits in Telugu, Hindi and English. The skits were funny, informative and also beautiful which brought a little theatre to life of Greenwood. 

The event stepped to the finale performance as students performed Dhol Baje which hyped everyone present in  the event. 

Words of appreciation were given by Principal maam. She encouraged all the students for their amazing performances that made this day successful , she also appreciated all the staff present. With her loving words the gathering had dispersed and the day came to an end.

What are good touches and bad touches ?

This slogan refers to the teachings that good touches are those that are not abusive (such as hugs from family, a pat on the back, or shaking hands), while bad touches are those that are abusive and involve touching a child’s private body parts.

Education starts at home and is taken to a higher level at schools and colleges. It is our collective responsibility as parents, teachers and school management to ensure that our wards are aware of the negative side of our society as prevention is always better than cure.

As per the level of the child’s understanding capacity, he or she must be warned against kidnappers and sexual abusers. Awareness about good and bad touch, over familiarity, blackmailing, bullying must be discussed both at school and at home. This is possible only when the child is comfortable and able to confide with us.

Vigilance is the need of the day as once the horrendous deed is done, there is nothing left to do but lament.

November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day or Bal Diwas every year in India. The special day is celebrated in remembrance of India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, born on November 14, 1889, he was also known as Pandit Nehru. Nehru, who was fondly called Chacha Nehru or simply Chachaji, was very popular amongst children for his love.

A day marking childhood ,and to make this event a memorable for our little ones, Greenwood High School , Hunter road ,Warangal  celebrated Children’s Day on 14 November 2022  for pre-primary and primary in the school premises. The day focused on children and their enjoyment. The day commemorated with immense joy , enthusiasm and magnificence. The tiny tots of Pre primary and Primary  came dressed up girls in pink and boys in blue colour dress.

The teachers made the occasion memorable for the children with a special assembly. The children were treated to a melodious medley of songs followed by a colorful dance performance and skit  by their teachers.

Rally on Child Abuse by Class IX and X Students

To celebrate Children’s Day in a unique way, the students of Greenwood High school, Hunter Road took out in a rally today. Intending to spread awareness on ‘Child Abuse’ and the importance of spending quality time with family by educating digital time’, they performed flash mob and mime as the rally progressed.

The students gathered at D.E.O office, Hanmakonda. The rally began with the waving of flag by Principal C. Manjula Devi and G. Akarsh Naidu 10:00 a.m. Due permission was taken from concerned authorities. Students started the march with enthusiasm and raised slogans as they progressed. The slogans included ‘Stop Child Abuse’, ‘Stand Up for Children’ and Lets Build Our India’. Slogans grabbed attentive flashcards and posters displayed, and catchy slogan raised. The slogan highlighted the importance of creating and enabling environment for a child’s growth to realise his/ her true potential.

The rally gathered at Adalath. Taking everyone by surprise, girls of Class 10 started performing a flash mob which has a beautiful message. It was an incredible performance with great team work. It was followed by a mime which wonderfully defected different forms of child abuse. Without saying a single word they portrayed various forms of child abuse like sexual harassment, domestic violence and physical forms of child abuse. Then another flash mob was performed by boys of class 10th which fascinated the viewers. Their performance was outstanding and well synchronised.

After all these fabulous performance the rally proceded to the Collector Office. On the way, a melodious song was sung by Keerthana and Harshitha of Class 9th. Finally, when student reached the collector office, they have again performed the flash mobs and mime with same energy levels. They grabbed attention of people passing by. The theme struck a chord with everyone. Everyone nodded their head in appreciation and were moved by the issue. 

The Students of Greenwood have taken a thoughtful step to words raising their voice  against ‘Child Abuse’ and towards importance of spending quality of family time. Their marvelous performance have spread awareness in people.

“Yummy Tummy” #Nutritional week balanced diet day

Greenwood leaves no occasion to reinforce its mission of educating parents and students on a healthy diet.

We observed “Yummy Tummy Nutritional week ” from 7th to 12th November 2022.

A fruit/ vegetable diet chart and its nutritional values was shared with students and parents. Teachers ensured that students followed the same throughout the week.

We wholeheartedly thank our parents for supporting us in bringing awareness towards the importance of healthy food for students’ physical and mental health.

On the occasion of ‘Garden Party’ as it is ‘Karthika Masam’ Abhyaas the global school came up with an innovative idea.

Children across the grades were informed that their lunch boxes would not be relished by them as usual, but by their lucky schoolmates as the lunch boxes would be distributed randomly to the children. It also meant that they too would be eating lip-smacking food prepared by somebody else’s loving mother. This thought drove the children to get their favourite food prepared by their mothers.

The children in a festive mood fed food to each other and to their favorite teachers sitting on lush green meadows and under shady trees.

Next, they rocked the ground by shaking a leg to their favorite songs. Both dancers and spectators enjoyed themselves thoroughly. At one point, a sudden, invigorating breeze dispersed leaves from nearby trees on the dancers and spectators so much that students were commenting that nature too was enjoying itself. But the fun didn’t end there because the sprawling grounds were inviting the children to play games of their choice, with friends of their choice irrespective of age or gender.

The hidden motive behind organizing this Pot Luck Lunch was to encourage and inculcate positive habits of sharing and caring for their fellow beings, crossing man-made barriers of religion, caste, gender, age and status. The facial expressions and undiluted joy gave evidence to the fact that the “Pot Luck Lunch” was a grand success with a great motive.
