“WISHING YOU THE HAPPIEST NEW YEAR EVER”

“WISHING YOU THE HAPPIEST NEW YEAR EVER”

#New Beginning #New Learning’s #New Experiences

As we have entered into a new year, let’s just brainstorm, being elders, being parents, how could we have been better parents. Many a times, we elders will forget that our children will follow our actions rather than our words.

In such case, how could we be better role models than better speakers to our own kids?!

Here are the concepts of Japanese culture, which can help us to improve our life style and pattern, so that we could be the best role models to our children as well as to this generation students.

Japan is known as one of the best places to live as people of Japan understand what the correct way of living and its purpose behind.

# # Oubaitouri

Never compare yourself with anyone else. Everyone blossoms in their own time in different ways. Don’t judge yourself by someone else’s path.

ou” means – Cherry blossom, “Bai” means – Japanese Apricot blossom, “Tou” means – Peach blossom, “Ri” means – Japanese prime blossom.

These all flowers blooms in spring but have each uniqueness’s and individuality.

We can be just the way we are. We all have potential and should brush-up it. There is no single way to establish yourself. There are no people who are no chance to contribute to the world. We all are different, we are all equal.

# # Kaizen

Continuously improve. Constantly strive to improve across all areas of your life. Small changes accumulate and make all the difference.

# # Wabi-Sabi

Embrace imperfection. Nothing lasts, nothing is complete. Accept your own flaws and those of others. Find beauty in imperfection.

# # Gaman

Have dignity during duress. Hard times need to be met with emotional maturity and self-control. We need patience, perseverance and tolerance.

# # Ikigai

Know your reason for being. Define the reason you get up in the morning. Make it something you are good at, passionate about and that the world needs.

## Shikita ga nai

Accept and let go. Some things simple aren’t within our control. Accept what you cannot change and move on.

# # Shu-Ha-Ri

Don’t be wasteful. Everything deserves respect and gratitude. Recognize the value in what’s around you and don’t waste it.

# Kintsugi #

  • Shu: Learn the basics by following the teaching of one master. Imitating the work of great masters also falls in this stage.
  • Ha: Start experimenting, learn from masters and integrate the learning into the practice.
  • Ri: This stage focuses on innovation and adapting the learning to different situations.

Repair cracks with gold. Imperfections are a thing of beauty. The journeys we all take are golden. Our flaws are embellishments that make us more beautiful.

# Omoiyari #

Show consideration for others. Life is better when we care for others. Be thoughtful. Build compassion.

Let’s try to adapt at least few from the above and be the best parents and mentors.

Years end is neither an end nor a beginning but a journey with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.

WISH YOU A WONDERFUL, HAPPY, HEALTHY, PEACEFUL and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2023.

“QUBI QUEST” @ Abhyaas The Global School

Bhimavaram-Abhyaas The Global School

“Mathematics is a systematic effort of solving puzzles posed by nature”.

— Shakuntala Devi —

“MATHEMATICS is not about numbers, equations, computations and algorithms, it is about UNDERSTANDING” ___**-William Paul Thurston** ___

Over a period of time, some things will drop out of the public eye and vanish. But, Science, engineering, and technology will be with mankind till the end of the world. And the base is Mathematics.

Abhyaas the global school leaves no stone unturned in the quest for talented kids who may God willing bring laurels to our country. Keeping this in mind the Department of Mathematics has organized ‘Qubi Quest’.

Experience says learning mathematics can be made easier and enjoyable if our curriculum includes mathematical activities and games. Mathematics Quiz encourages, attracts, alerts and brings in an open-minded attitude among youngsters which helps them to develop clarity in thinking.

Mathematics quiz is a brief assessment used in education to measure growth in terms of knowledge, abilities and skills. It helps to enhance the interest among the students towards the subject and also creates a conductive environment to work in groups outside the classroom.

A little competition can inspire students to greater achievements. It challenges students to use their math skills in new and creative ways. It also provides challenging and engaging mathematical experience, both competitive and educational.

As a part of extended learning of Mathematics, “ Qubi Quest “was conducted in ABHYAAS The Global School. Students from across the 4 houses participated in this Quiz competition.

There were three levels, students who qualified in level 1, were selected to level 2 and level 3. There were three rounds in each level. The Main objective of the quiz was to encourage children to look beyond their textual knowledge and relieve the tension of their daily work routine. Children had a good team spirit wherein “small to big” all students were busy and giving tough fight to make their team win.

After a tough fight, the positions bagged by the 4 different HOUSES are as followed:

From Seniors category, Rishith and Badri, won the TROPHY for Emerald House.

From Super-Seniors category, Ameema Meher and Siddharth Varma of Ruby house snatched the TROPHY in a nail biting competition.

The Sub-juniors category involved little mathematicians; Ajit and Harshith have won the TROPHY for Ruby House.

From the Juniors category, Vyshnavi and Shanmukh have won the TROPHY for Diamond House.

From the Director’s Desk…

Dear Students,

My warm wishes to you. I want to suggest you how to utilize our REVISION PROGRAM to get maximum benefits.

I feel that no one in this world is born without intelligence.

God has given every one the same composition of mind. It depends on you how to utilize it for your success.

If you have a definite target in life, you can easily collect all your
powers and focus them on that goal.

If you remain determined for your goal, just like the pole star, you would not be affected by any challenges or struggle of your life. If you become a pole star, your future generations would respect you and follow in your footsteps.

The famous English poet, Robert Frost, has written a poem. I would like to quote some lines here to focus more on that topic

Woods are lovely, dark and deep,
And I’ve promises to keep.
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Here, the line “And miles to go before I sleep” has been repeated.
This is an emphasis on the self-determination and strong resolution of a person who wants to do a lot before he sleeps (dies).

You are self-illuminated, just like the Sun. You possess fuel in the form of energy and wick in the form of willpower. Then, which power can stop you from getting lighted up or move towards your goal?

You keep sharpening your willpower and caliber at all points of time. Learn to trust yourself. You possess unlimited powers within you. Do not let your self-confidence go down. Keep yourself enlightened and aware;

if you do so on a consistent basis, no one can stop you from succeeding.

The most beautiful thing in this world is to see your parents smiling and
the next best thing is to know that you are the reason behind that smile.

Most of the students are functionally very strong and behaviorally very weak and often their reason for failure is not lack of knowledge or hard work but lack of motivation and positive attitude. And for you to have positive attitude towards your preparation, it is very important to answer the following question.

” Why am I studying” ?

Every task should have a sense of purpose or motive behind it.

So, first define the purpose whether

  • it is your passion
  • to make your parents happy
  • or something else.

Some important tips to follow :

# Results of a survey said that the difference between topper and slow learner is not much in terms of subject knowledge, intelligence or hard work, but the major difference is in terms of study techniques and approach towards exam.

# You should possess a great determination so that you are ready to quit (sacrifice) the most important things you like. (Watching movies or chatting with friends or something else)

# Have concrete faith in you. You are what your thoughts are. If you think you can, then you can.

Small Tip: To achieve this state of mind, stop speaking negative about anyone or anything and see the magical power of your brain.

To get benefit in revision plan :

# Though we give a revision plan, every student must plan again in that according to his/her abilities. Suppose if you are given 2 hours for Social, then you should preplan how and what to study in that given time.

# Analyze yourself daily in the night whether you prepared the whole day as you wished. If not, then list out the mistakes made by you like chatting with friends, wasting time, not taking care of health etc. and plan accordingly how to rectify them the next day.

# Write your purpose in a book to excel in exams and read that daily at least once.

# Teachers are there to guide and support you. So, you should not hesitate to ask them even a single thing which obstructs your growth.

# This is exclusively for those who struggle to pass in the exams. Follow the
instructions given by your teachers sincerely. Do not think negatively about
them. They are just to guide you and support you.

# Suppose if you are good at Maths then give more time for preparing other subjects.

Mindset before writing an exam.

# Say to yourself before writing every exam that this is the final exam and you should put forth your maximum efforts to excel in it.

# Don’t forget to revise what you had read so many days before the exam.

# Every exam conducted will show how you have prepared for that exam.

# Your performance in exams indicates your preparation.

# Every exam gives you a chance to rectify yourself before writing the final exam.

What to do after an exam is conducted (or) papers are given back?

Analyze yourself in the following areas.

Have I presented in order ?

  • Handwriting
  • Neatness
  • Mistakes
  • Your absolute ( maximum) score.

Plan yourself how to rectify the above .

Write all the mistakes done by you in a book, Inspite of your sincere efforts, you have committed that mistakes. Hence, you should revise every time from then onwards before writing any exam in that chapter.

# Rectification is the only way to develop yourself.

Things to be kept in mind:

# You are going to revise each chapter you have studied only after 2 months. So you have to revise thoroughly now itself so that it takes very less time after 2 months.

# Your daily analysis and performance analysis in exam are going to take you to the expected peaks.

# Never think of any other thing or the persons till you reach your goal.

How to overcome exam tension?

  • Speak openly with your friends or teachers about your problem and follow their suggestions.

(Mind is like a parachute, it works best when it is open)

  • One more suggestion is that it would be better if you get experience before writing the
schedule tests. i.e. ask your friend / teacher to conduct a pretest and analyze not to repeat the mistakes.

NOTE :

Whenever you are not getting out of your problems,

read this once again. You will definitely find a solution.

HAVE A GOAL, A GOAL IS JUST A DREAM WITH A DEAD LINE……

WISH YOU ALL THE BEST

“Hate the Disease Not the Diseased” – World AIDS Day- 01 December 2022

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). By damaging the human immune system, HIV interferes with the body’s ability to fight infection and disease.

HIV is a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI). It can also be spread by contact with infected blood and from illicit injection drug use or sharing needles. It can also be spread from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.

We are aware that in our country, due to many cultural and social stigmas talking about sex is tabooed. Everyone hesitates to talk about this in public and even forbids its discussion at all levels. But the clear, transparent knowledge of this is essential for one and all as the spreading of AIDS, the most dreaded disease, is directly or indirectly connected to unnatural and illegitimate aspect it.

LET’s BREAK the SILENCE & TALK

With a clear and coherent view of spreading this message and knowledge as well among the children and all others connected with our school, our Department of Science has organized many a program in our school.

On 30 November 2022, the students of class 10 exhibited a number of charts that depicted everything that is to be known by each and every one about AIDS. These charts were so well prepared that by just looking at them and reading them everyone can understand with ease the form, cause and prevention of this cureless disease.

The talent of the children in making these colorful and imaginative charts which attracted many to them and made them pay attention to the message they are intended to spread is certainly praise worthy. These students even explained everything about AIDS so well with clarity and coherence overcoming the taboos and stigmas. This indeed is the need of the hour.

On 01 December 2022, an awareness program was arranged in the school premises to commensurate with the World AIDS Day in our school auditorium at 06.00 p.m. Three eminent doctors who have been associated with the AIDS Prevention Program of the Government, working at the District Head Quarters Hospital, MGM, Dr. Lohitha, Dr. Navya and Dr. Sai Krishna took part in this program. They imparted so much knowledge about everything one has to know about this fatal disease.  The benefit our children reaped from this program is boundless. The Interactive Session that followed between these eminent doctors and the students proved to be very informative, educative and path defining for one and all.

The children of class 9 had performed a skit bringing out the message ‘Hate the Disease Not the Diseased’ Which was very informative and educative despite its heavy theme.

Dr.G.Bharadwaja Naidu, in his address reiterated the fact that “It is time, we all realized that spreading the knowledge and awareness is the best tool to prevent this deadly disease. Above all we all must accept and practice the motto of this effort and program ‘Hate the Disease Not the Diseased’

Our Director, Dr. Bharadwaja Naidu, Sri. A. Prabhu Kumar, the Chief Executive Officer, Sri. T. Pavan Kumar, the Administrative Principal, the teachers from the Greenwood Science and other Departments and many members of the support staff took active part in this program.

#Discipline #Learning #Success

Is self discipline important in one’s life?!

“Discipline is rarely enjoyable but almost always profitable” – Darrin Patrick

Discipline is considered a particularly valuable skill in students’ life, where they encounter tough situations on a regular basis.

People who are disciplined are also more likely to be able to focus on long-term goals and solutions rather than seek instant gratification.

This means that disciplined individuals will work hard to meet goals and they will continue to push forward even when working on tedious, boring or otherwise difficult tasks at their learning stages.

Not giving in to something is considered a sign of strength and leadership, and it’s commended and respected at all levels of societal interactions, especially at higher level tasks.

Self discipline can help students to achieve.

Self Control : Which helps them to adhere to the given task, therefore, they can get better with their efficiency.

Time Management: They can spend their time in doing productive works, can control their tasks and complete in advance, therefore they will have more time to spend with friends and family.

Reduces stress levels : It helps them to elevate their productivity levels and quality parameters as they have more time in hand. Also they can spend their time sharpening their skill sets by reading blogs, article, and reference books related to subjects.

One becomes a source of inspiration to their friends and peers. They look up to them for all the inspiration they need.

There are a lot many qualities and aspects required to taste success in our life. But of all, the quality of discipline supersedes as it starts from the ground level shaping our entire lifestyle and personality to the core.

Hence it is vital to realize and follow the importance of DISCIPLINE not only at schools but also during our personal endeavors, as it is easy to inculcate at their young age.

Math Day Celebrations @ Abhyaas The Global School

Bhimavaram @ Abhyaas The Global School

Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations and algorithms: it’s about UNDERSTANDING!

Right from LKG level, kids at Abhyaas the global school are encouraged to understand that Math’s is like going to the gym to keep our brain active and that without it there is nothing one can do in life.

Today, we at Abhyaas the global school have celebrated Mathematics Day in honor of  Srinivasa Ramanujan, a legendary Indian mathematician whose contribution in the field led to the resolution of many unsolved theorems.

Parents, Teachers and students got caught up with the buzz as they visited the myriad stalls set up by kiddos from Grade 3 to Grade 9 to showcase their projects. All participants had a great day, racking their rusted brains at some stalls or sharpening them at some other stalls. Parents who came to attend the Parents Teachers Meeting were pleasantly surprised to see the budding mathematicians explaining their projects or encouraging their audience to participate in both the math activities and the fun games.

From understanding the intriguing Pythagoras theorem to a fun game of finding the day, if the date or month or year was given, the students of Class 9 entertained and educated people using novel ways and methods and the brilliant learners won the chance to play fun games

The students of Class 8 treated all present with a memory game on fractions, jigsaw puzzles using different shapes and finding squares and square roots of numbers  by playing  a shooting game.

Class 7 students helped their friends in identifying monomials, binomial and trinomials and also in finding the mean, mode and median in 3 different levels using play way methods.

The students of Class 6 enthralled their audience giving them chances to solve riddles  by playing a ring game and brush up on their tables by using a dot board game.

Class 5 students endeared themselves by requesting their friends and teachers to play a game on comparison of fractions and matching fractions to their decimal form and the lucky winners transferred Thermocol balls from one bowl to another bowl with two toothpicks.

Grade 4 kids taught division through a division machine and they taught subtraction using flash cards.

The tiny tots of Grade 3 also chipped in to give an explanation of 2D or Flat shapes and 3D  or Solid shapes.

A discourse the life and works of the Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan saw the culmination of a well planned event by the Mathematics teachers

Parents were so caught up with the excitement that they lamented on the fact that they were unable to visit all the stalls due to shortage of time because of their prior commitments elsewhere.

All students, teachers and parents enjoyed challenging themselves and each other at the Math fair

News Channels – Impact on the young generation.

#News   #Gossiping  #Entertainment  #Public speaking  #vulgarity  #Racially Biased  #Politically Biased

A  few years ago, TV channels used to allot roughly half an hour per day for broadcasting news. But now we have 24/7 news channels.

News channels help people in staying aware of the happenings around the world,  strengthen democracy by taking steps to ensure transparency in the government. Now those who have power are afraid of news channels, which are taking responsibility to question them on behalf of people.

Until a few years ago, not many people were interested in watching the news. But these days, news channels are as interesting and colourful as entertainment channels.

As long as the news is delivered genuinely, without any biased opinions and personal or political interests,  it would definitely be informative to the students.

On the contrary,  news channels are exaggerating each and every news and projecting them as breaking news just to grab attention.  They sensationalize everything just for TRP ratings. This is creating unnecessary panic and restlessness among the younger generation.

News channels are concentrating mainly on negative news such as tragic incidents, crime etc. To earn more money, many news channels are opting for paid news and are manipulating people. This phenomenon is on the rise especially at the time of elections and this is resulting in a lack of trust on news channels.

Some political parties have news channels of their own. This results in biased news to influence voters.  We at schools, cultivate habits like addressing the higher authorities like Ministers and people discharging duties at higher levels with high respect by adding titles like, ‘Sri’, ‘Sir’, ‘honorable’ etc.,.. But these days because of the DEBATES that are being conducted in the national level channels, students are loosing the habit of respecting officials, instead addressing any one in a familiar or friendly manner is taken for granted.

These days, news channels often take up the role of investigators at crime scenes. They explain everything in minute detail. This is influencing some youngsters to commit  crimes as they now know the process to do it. In this way, news channels keep people updated about new ways of committing crimes, which is changing the mind set of adolescents into thinking of crime as  a passion.

If there is an incident of a clash between communities, news channels will telecast that all day. This results in increasing hatred among people.

As news channels report crimes every hour, people feel as if there is crime everywhere. This makes people feel unsafe. Constant feeling of uneasiness, directly affects their mental health. What we consume has a direct impact on our happiness levels too.

Hence our role as educators and parents,  should be more concentrated on their mental health as they get exposure to many kinds of negative things through social media. Observe what they are watching, what they are doing and guide them on the right direction.  Provide space for them to interact with you on daily basis without any  fear or consciousness. Join your hands with us in this journey of making intellectual future citizens for a healthy society.

Red is bright and beautiful. Viraj said that it is found everywhere in many fruits like apples, cherries, strawberries, watermelons and pomegranates,  vegetables like tomatoes and red chilies and in flowers like hibiscus and rose.

Greenwood’s Achievement in an Inter-School Competition

Hunter Road @ Greenwood Group of Schools

Inter-school competitions are held on various topics, throughout the year involving several schools. This is a very healthy thing as a student is assessed, not only within the school, but is compared with the students of all the other schools too. Educational Trip for class 6-8

An educational trip is very useful. It enables the students to visit different places. They learn many things when they go to various places. The educational trip enriches their knowledge and broadens their outlook.

This year Greenwood High School had organized an educational trip on 7th and 8th December 2022 for students of grade 6 – 8 .

The trip was divided into 2 days

( Day 1 : All the Grade 6th student and 2 section of 7th )

( Day 2 : All the Grade 8th students along with the other 2 section of 7th)

Students and parents were informed about the trip one week in advance.

Our ACO Harshavardha  sir personally informed all the section of 6th 7th & 8th about the trip and the details that were to be kept in mind during the journey.

Students were told to bring snacks and lunch as the trip duration was 7 hours.

On the fixed days students had gathered in the school ground and boarded the bus at 9 o clock, along with their guide teachers. Five busses were allotted for the  students followed by 2 guide teacher per bus. Finally  We hit the road.

First, the students were taken to Regional Science Center which is 3.6 KM from school. There they saw many different experiments. working models, machines and theoretical projects as well.

What excited the students most was a machine where they could  check their weights on different planets of our solar system.

They got to experience different illusions and see the model of a human DNA.

They also learnt how 3 Dimensional images actually look 3D and the theory behind it.

By the time the tour of the Science Center was done it was almost 12 o clock. Students had their snacks in the rest area, played some games and looked around, they also found some weight lifting equipment which were connected to science topics.

The second part of the tour began at 12:30 as the students boarded the busses and began the journey to Nagarjuna Milk Product Dairy which is approximately 30 KM from the Regional Science Center. It took us about 1 hour to reach the Dairy. As soon as the busses reached students and staff had lunch from 1:30 to 2:00.

Finally the tour of the dairy farm started. Students were divided into groups of 4 to enter the dairy and explore the process: How the milk is heated in bulk, how the sweets are made, how paneer is processed and stored. They also showed the equipments used for the chill room, where all the frozen items are stored.

After the tour, students purchased yummy and tasty flavored milk ( Badam and pista) and  ate doodh peda sweet which was made fresh in the dairy. The manager treated the students with a glass of milk and biscuits after the tour.

We called it a day and 1st bus left the dairy around 3:15 followed by other busses in the interval of 5 minutes each. ACO Harshavardhan Sir and Srikant Sir guided the students all along  and made the trip easy going.

Students really enjoyed the trip and learned many new things during the tour. They also made the journey to and fro really lively with many different games played throughout. It was indeed an unforgettable trip.

We thank the management for organising this Educational Field Trip for the students.

Assessing Students…Post Corona…

#Subject   #skill   #knowledge…

An exam tests how the student has performed on a distinct day. It is not a genuine source of grading a student’s knowledge and intelligence. If a student scores well all year but disappoints to perform well on the day of the exam due to any reason, would that mean lack of performance of the student or lack of knowledge of the student on that day? One should think of answering this themselves and then comprehend how fairly students are assessed based on a piece of paper.

Every year millions of learners around the globe take exams, and most of them work hard and struggle to accomplish good grades because they desire to prove they are the best. This competition encourages students to work harder and acts as a motivation for them. The most significant part is that students learn to manage competition which they are unquestionably going to face later in life.

Practical exams strengthen confidence and dispense the real picture of the individual. Learning and reading technical lines from the book can make the individual think that they are equipped to face challenges in life but practicing it in real life shows how much more they need to work.

In order to score well, students usually focus more on rote rehearsal and ignore the concepts. They do receive good grades, but the price is the reduced knowledge because, after some days, most students forget what they learned, and the effort of schools/colleges goes down the drain. This approach minimizes the practical capabilities of students. The grades these students gain in exams won’t guarantee success in practical life!

As soon as the season of the exam arrives, it brings stress and anxiety with it. The stress of scoring well in an exam and the anxiety of failing an exam can make life very challenging for students. Some stress is necessary to motivate students to study, but extreme stress can lead to increased blood pressure and other serious health issues.

During exams, the child may fear about receiving bad grades, which destroy their happiness. A distressed child is more likely to get depressed, and this can be very harmful to their health. Depression originated by exams can have a very adverse impact on the child’s being!

The learning capacity is different for every child. A significant problem caused by examinations is the comparison that is created between children/students, ignoring the fact that all individuals are distinct from each other. Some students learn new concepts efficiently, while others are more skilled at sports.

On the other hand, there is no doubt that Examination can energize students, rendering them motivation to learn things. Quite like games, exams also generate competition among students. Exams are a push and pressure that every student necessitates in life. Exams examine not only a student but also improve their knowledge.

Hence as parents and Educators, it is more important to strike a balance and create better learning environment for children both at School and at Home….
