“Let new India arise out of peasants’ cottage, grasping the plough, out of huts, cobbler and sweeper.” – Swami Vivekananda

India won it’s freedom on the 15th of August, 1947 and became a Republic on the 25th of January, 1950. The new constitution of free India came into force with effect from this day.

It is a day of national rejoicing and a red-letter day in our country. The day is celebrated with pomp and show, zeal and spirit, throughout the length and breadth of the country.

The day was celebrated in Greenwood High School Hunter Road with great éclat. The school building was tastefully decorated with flower-pots, buntings, pictures of heroes of the freedom movement and national flags.

We were blessed with the presence of our beloved Director Sir. Head boy, Head girl and the N.C.C cadets welcomed the dignitaries with parade. All the dignitaries offered coconuts to the national leaders of our country followed by hoisting of flag by director sir. Each and every member present in school premises raised their hands and salute the national flag and sang the national anthem.

The program had begun.

Then there were some very inspiring national songs sung in chorus by students of primary and high school.. These were followed by stirring speeches by the students of Pre-Primary, Primary and high school. To show the spirit of Republic India students of Pre primary show cased Fancy dress as freedom fighters, soldiers and other important people of the country.

To show the love and patriotism towards the country, students of primary and school performed dance on various songs like India Wale, Teri mitti etc.

As Greenwood High School Hunter Road had just finished its Winter Sports Carnival, we had taken this opportunity to award the winners with medals and certificates. Prizes were distributed among the winners of different sports and games. Team as well as individual games. Students showed great sportsmanship and appreciation their fellow mates.

Overall, it was a fun filled learning and enjoyable day for the tiny tots. We thank the management for guiding us to make this event a success.
