January 26, The Republic Day, is the red letter day for every Indian as India became Republic on 25th January, 1950. The new constitution of our country came into force with effect from that day after we got Independence on August 15th, 1947.

Today we the Greenwoodians celebrated 74th Republic Day in an elated air with great pomp and show. Our school premises and dais have been decorated with National Flags, buntings, tricolor papers , balloons, ribbons and the pictures of our freedom fighters.

We all gathered in our huge school ground for the celebrations at 7:30 a.m. and eagerly waited for the arrival of our illustrous  directors, Sri. Ch. Dharma Reddy Garu and Sri. Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu garu along with Chief Administrative Officer Sri. A. Prabhu Kumar, Academic Principal Sri. V.V.V. Naveen Kumar, Administrative Principal Sri T. Pavan Kumar and Chief Finance Officer Sri. Shaik Rabbani.

The program started when the NCC Cadets welcomed and marched along with the dignitaries upto the dais.

All the students, teaching and non teaching staff stood and hailed them cordially with cheers and welcomed them onto the dais to occupy their distinguished seats.

First of all, the dignitaries offered the prayers and paid tributes and garlanded the portraits of our Constitution framer, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The heads of our institution Sri Ch. Challa Dharma Reddy and Sri. Dr.G. Bharadwaja Naidu unfurled the National Flag and all of us saluted the National Flag with nationalistic fervor followed by the march past of the NCC cadets, Dumbbell drill, Hoops and Bamboo drill performing students.

Followed by, Head of Telugu department, Sri. J. Ramesh sir delivered an inspiring speech during which he sang a great patriotic song, He described about Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, who faced a lot of criticism and problems in his childhood to be educated and how he could rise to the position and honor to draft the constitution of our nation.

Sri Ch. Dharma Reddy sir while addressing the gathering said, “All the students should work hard and study well so as to bring good name for the parents, teachers and school. He mentioned about the hardwork done by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in his life. And he also suggested the teachers to work with more commitment for the betterment of the students and their bright future with a lot of responsibility.

Sri. Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu garu,  while addressing the gathering, said that every student must get a special identity as Greenwood Student by achieving great things by following the standards set by the school for gaining the holistic growth among the students. He also said that Education is the only weapon that can bring change in the society.

Sri.  A. Prabhu Kumar sir made his speech and motivated the students. Both the Principals wished all the gathering on this occasion.  Later on

Bharathamathaku jejelu  song by D. Thanvika, K. Teja Hasini and  T. Sahasra of Class VII brought a patriotic spirit among all the audience.

Dance performances by the girls for the patriotic songs with graceful steps brought the real patriotic aura on the campus.

Inorder  to honor the abilities of the students and to encourage their artistic and creative skills of the students, prize distribution was held for the winners of Rangoli competition and Mehendi competition which were conducted on the occasion of Sankranthi for the girl students. Certificates, prizes and medals were given away by our beloved Directors to the winners.

Dumbbell drill, Hoops performance, Pyramid Formations and the Bamboo drill by the boys of higher classes were rocking, raucous and flamboyant.

The Republic Day celebrations came to an end by the vote of thanks of the anchors Ch. Aapthika and A. Abhilasha of Class IX. All the students and staff members were distributed with sweets of a special make for the event.
