I trust this message finds you in good health and high spirits. As we navigate through the academic year, I am compelled to share a crucial thought that I believe will not only shape our individual journeys but also contribute to the collective growth of our school community.
In a world often dominated by conformity, it is imperative to recognize the significance of thinking differently. Our school has always been a bastion of diversity, fostering an environment where unique perspectives flourish. Today, I urge each one of you to embrace the power of individuality and resist the allure of becoming just one among the mob.
Divergent thinking is the cornerstone of innovation. History bears witness to the fact that societal progress stems from the courage to challenge the status quo. Great minds, from scientific pioneers to artistic visionaries, have left an indelible mark by thinking beyond the ordinary. It is this very spirit of originality that we seek to cultivate in our esteemed institution.
Students, you are not just here to absorb knowledge; you are here to question, to explore, and to forge new paths. Do not be afraid to express your opinions, even if they diverge from the mainstream. Embrace the uniqueness that sets you apart, for it is through diversity of thought that we achieve greatness.
Teachers, you play a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of thinkers. Encourage your students to challenge assumptions, to ask questions that defy conventional wisdom. In doing so, you contribute not only to their academic growth but also to the development of well-rounded individuals capable of making a lasting impact on the world.
Remember, it is easy to be a part of the crowd, but true fulfillment lies in thinking differently. As a school, let us celebrate the mosaic of ideas that defines us. Let us create an environment where individuality is not only accepted but celebrated.
In closing, I encourage each of you to reflect on the words of Albert Einstein: “The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” Let our thinking be a beacon of change, guiding us towards a future where the power of unique perspectives propels us to new heights.
Wishing you all a transformative and inspiring academic journey.

In the Indian context, Mehendi, also known as henna, is a paste associated with positive vibes and good luck. Itโs a common knowledge that Henna is a color made from the henna plant. It’s used for temporary body art, like designs on the skin. When you put henna on your skin, it shows its best color after a while and stays for a few days. Then, it slowly fades away as your skin naturally sheds, usually within one to three weeks.
Greenwood High School, Hasanparthy, has organized the lively Mehendi competition, on January 6, 2024, exclusively for 7th to 10th-grade girl students, getting ready for the upcoming Sankranti Festival. The whole idea of competition was our students to explore and nurture traditional values, let their artistic inspiration flow, and give them a chance to showcase their artistic skills through a variety of Mehendi patterns.
Mehendi, reflecting the rich Indian culture, combines knowledge of medicinal herbs with many sentiments and beliefs. It’s believed that the deeper color of the Mehendi on the hands symbolizes profound love. In certain communities, the darkness of the Mehendi signifies the strength of the relationship.
The goal of this competition was not just to assess the drawing skills of the students but also to appreciate their creativity and their unique ways of expression, contributing to the overall personality development of the students. The Mehendi competition began with students enthusiastically joining in, each showing off these intricate and beautiful designs on their partner friendโs hands. The school grounds were all dressed up with colorful decorations and elaborate arrangements, truly embodying that festive vibe of Sankranti.
Forty-seven students enthusiastically took part in the competition and crafted beautiful designs based on different themes. Some designs were conventional, while others were unique and trendy.
During the competition, our Respected Director Sri. Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu sir, Greenwood General Manager โ Sri. A. Prabhu Kumar sir, Academic Principal โ Sri. V.V.V Naveen Kumar sir, Administrative Principal โ Sri. T. Pavan Kumar sir, and Vice Principal V. Suresh Kumar sir actively participated in guiding the teachers, other staff, and students for all the arrangements, ensuring the competitionis held in a super successful manner.

Interpersonal Skills: Competitions encourage teamwork and friendship. Working together with classmates creates a supportive vibe, promoting healthy competition and social interaction.
Cultural Awareness: Mehendi competitions open eyes to diverse cultural practices. Students get to know why Mehendi is a big deal in various celebrations, broadening their understanding of cultural diversity.
Celebrating Festivals: Aligning competitions with festivals like Sankranti brings a festive spirit to the school community. It’s a time for students to celebrate together, fostering unity and shared cultural experiences.
Benefits of Mehendi Competitions:

As this is the festive season, let me take this opportunity to share a few words with you all about the role Makara Sankranti plays all that it symbolizes in our lives.
Sankranti, also known as Makar Sankranti, is a Hindu festival that marks the transition of the Sun into the zodiac sign of Makara (Capricorn). It usually takes place around January 14th every year. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and varies in name and traditions across different regions of India. Here are some key aspects of the significance, symbolism, and traditions associated with Sankranti:
Solar Transition and Harvest Festival:
Sankranti is primarily a solar event that marks the end of the winter solstice and the beginning of longer days. It is also considered a harvest festival in many parts of India, as it signifies the time when crops like sugarcane, sesame, and pulses are harvested.
Symbolism of Sun and Light:
The movement of the Sun into the northern hemisphere is associated with the triumph of light over darkness, symbolizing knowledge, wisdom, and the dispelling of ignorance. The festival represents the gradual increase in daylight and the promise of warmer days ahead.
Traditional Rituals and Customs:
People take ritual baths in rivers, especially in the Holy Rivers, and offer prayers to the Sun god during this time.
Flying kites is a popular tradition during Sankranti, symbolizing the breaking free from the darkness of ignorance into the bright light of knowledge.
Bonfires and Community Celebrations:
In some regions, Bhogi Mantalu, bonfires are lit on the eve of Sankranti, symbolizing the end of the winter season and the onset of longer days.
Community gatherings, cultural programs, and feasts are common during the festival, fostering a sense of unity and togetherness.

Cattle Worship:
In some rural areas, cattle are adorned with colorful accessories and worshiped during Sankranti as they play a crucial role in agriculture.
Charity and Good Deeds:
The festival emphasizes the importance of charity and helping those in need. Many people donate food, clothing, and other essentials to the less fortunate.
In summary, Sankranti holds cultural, agricultural, and spiritual significance in India. It is a time for rejoicing, gratitude, and the renewal of life as nature begins to bloom after the winter season.
Here are my greetings for you all and blessings for all the children.
On 07th January 2024, Greenwood conducted an Inter-House Rangoli Making Competition account of Sankranti Festival 2024. It turned out to be a fantastic experience for our rock star girl students in classes VII to X.
They jumped in with full-on enthusiasm, the kind you usually see during festivals. The whole scene was about boosting creativity, teamwork, and soaking in our culture vibes. We set the stage for everyone to let loose and express themselves using the original and traditional form of art โ Rangoli. It was all about bringing out that desi flair and letting the good times roll!
Importance of Rangoli making
Rangoli making is all about unleashing your artistic side with some stunning colors. It’s like this amazing art form straight out of the Indian scene. It’s a way to let your imagination run wild and free. We create patterns using powdered lime, red ocher, rice flour, colored sand, quartz powder, flower petals, snazzy colored rocks, colored glitters, and more. It’s like an everyday thing in loads of Indian homes, but busting out the Rangoli skills usually goes down during festivals and big celebrations because it takes some serious time.
So, Rangoli isn’t just an art; it’s a tradition, a vibe, and a Desi way to add some color to our festivals. We express gratitude to our ancestors for preserving and passing down this remarkable art form!

The influence of violent movies and their corresponding posters is a complex and debated aspect of contemporary media culture. Violent movies, often characterized by intense action sequences and graphic depictions of aggression, have been scrutinized for their potential impact on audiences. Likewise, movie posters, as visual representations of these films, play a crucial role in shaping audience expectations and perceptions.
Critics argue that exposure to violent movies can contribute to desensitization, wherein individuals become less sensitive to the emotional and ethical implications of real-life violence. The immersive nature of cinema, coupled with the realistic portrayal of brutality, may influence viewers, particularly the youth, by normalizing aggressive behavior. It is contended that the repeated consumption of such content can blur the lines between fiction and reality, potentially impacting social behavior and fostering a culture of violence.
Movie posters, being the first point of contact for potential viewers, also contribute to this influence. They serve as a visual marketing tool, encapsulating the essence of the film in a single image. The challenge arises when these posters resort to sensationalizing violence to attract attention. Critics argue that such imagery can manipulate audience perceptions, emphasizing the thrill of aggression rather than the consequences. This can, in turn, contribute to the glamorization of violence, making it seem appealing or acceptable.
However, defenders of violent movies and posters contend that they are legitimate forms of artistic expression. Filmmakers often use violence as a narrative device to explore complex themes or societal issues. Likewise, posters are seen as artistic representations that aim to capture the tone of the film rather than explicitly promote violence. In this view, the responsibility lies with the audience to engage critically with the content and differentiate between fiction and reality.
In conclusion, the influence of violent movies and movie posters is a nuanced interplay between artistic expression and potential societal impact. While concerns about desensitization and glamorization exist, acknowledging the role of responsible film making and encouraging media literacy are crucial in navigating this intricate relationship.
Dear Parents, Admissions are open for 2024-25
Safeguarding youth and children from the impact of crime in movies and posters involves several proactive measures.
Firstly, implement age-appropriate viewing limits by utilizing parental controls on streaming services and devices. Prioritize previewing content to assess its suitability for your child’s age and maturity level.
Educate them on distinguishing between fictional portrayals of crime and real-world consequences, stressing the gravity of actual actions. Foster critical thinking skills by discussing the motivations and outcomes depicted in movies, encouraging scrutiny of on-screen content.
Maintain open communication, addressing any concerns or misconceptions. Promote exposure to movies featuring positive role models and moral lessons, emphasizing integrity, empathy, and responsible decision-making.
Monitor online activities to prevent exposure to inappropriate content and establish clear screen time rules. Advocate for responsible advertising in the film industry, supporting age-appropriate marketing and clearer content ratings.
Engage with the community to raise awareness about media’s impact on children, endorsing educational programs on media literacy.
Remember, a balanced approach combining monitoring, education, and open communication is crucial to shield youth from potential negative influences of crime in movies.
