On 20th December 2024, ABHYAAS THE GLOBAL SCHOOL hosted its Annual Sports Carnival, which was a resounding success. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and parents, all coming together to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition.

Event Overview

The carnival featured a range of exciting activities, including track and field events, team sports, and novelty games. Students demonstrated their skills, speed, and agility, while the crowd cheered with great enthusiasm.

The Day’s Highlights

  • A Frosty Morning: The carnival began on a cool, frosty morning with the opening ceremony. The day’s announcements began with the statement:
    “Sports Day teaches discipline. Good morning, ABHYAAS!”
  • Welcoming Dignitaries: The honourable Principal, Vice Principal, Administrative Officer, and Coordinators were warmly welcomed onto the dais.
  • Flag Hoisting: The Principal hoisted the ABHYAAS Sports Flag, followed by the National Song, School Song, and a well-synchronized march past. The march past salutation was respectfully received by the Principal.
  • Oath-Taking Ceremony: The Games SPL led the oath, which was echoed by the entire school, promising to obey the rules of the games.
  • Torch Run Ceremony: A mesmerizing torch run began with the Principal lighting the torch. It was passed to the Games SPL, then to the School SPL, and finally to the four House Captains. During the run, the announcement rang out:
    “Keep striving, keep winning.”
    “We wish everyone an enjoyable time!”
  • Declaration Speech: The Principal declared the Sports Meet open, accompanied by a resounding applause and the release of colorful balloons into the sky.

The four houses competed in various events:

  • Ruby House: “Flame of Victory”
  • Sapphire House: “Fire of Victory”
  • Emerald House: “Eagles of Victory”
  • Diamond House: “Spirit of Victory”

House Captains inspired their teams with messages to remain honest and follow the rules. The carnival grounds, adorned with students dressed in vibrant colors from nursery to Class X, resembled a rainbow scattering its hues on the field.

Highlights included:

  • Team Competitions:
    • A nail-biting Kho-Kho match between Sapphire and Emerald Houses, with scores reviewed through recorded clips.
    • A fierce throwball match between Emerald and Diamond House girls.
  • Novelty Events:
    • Lemon-and-spoon races and musical chairs captivated pre-primary and primary students.
    • A neck-and-neck shot put competition among high school students.

The ABHYAAS playground was filled with fun and laughter. Music added to the celebratory atmosphere, and online commentary heightened the suspense as winners were announced.

Safety and Fun

Every safety measure was taken to ensure the children’s well-being. First-aid stations were equipped with ORS packets, lemon juice, and drinking water.

Closing Ceremony

  • Group Photographs: Participants, winners, and organizers posed for group photographs to capture the day’s memories.
  • Vote of Thanks: The Principal expressed gratitude to the participants, teachers, non-teaching staff, organizers, and spectators.
  • National Anthem: The school choir concluded the event with the National Anthem.

Final Note

ABHYAAS witnessed the true spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork. The Sports Carnival provided a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their physical skills, build teamwork and communication skills, and learn valuable lessons in perseverance and sportsmanship.

each house had 8 students and multiple of rounds were conducted, most interesting round was Wheel round.

Principal Sir, Vice prinicipal and Co-ordinator madam appreciated all the team and the Quiz was hosted by Grade 9 -students : Quiz host team . They were badged as Quiz Master, Mr. Points , Mr. Time and Mr. Camera.
Auditorium resound with the applause.

*Most interesting round was audience round, On answering correct answer they were given instant chocolate.

Winning team- The RUBY house, team was appreciated with the rolling trophy and chocolates.

Greenwood High School, Hasanparthy, Hanumakonda, celebrated Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with great exuberance on October 30, 2024. This event spot lighted the school’s focus on Indian traditions and values, underlining the cultural heritage of Diwali with joy and exclusivity.

Significance of Diwali

Diwali is celebrated not only by Hindus but also by Sikhs, Jains, and some Buddhists. It signifies the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. It unites families and communities in joy and harmony, signified by lighting oil lamps, creating rangolis, sharing sweets, and lighting fireworks.

Historical Background of Diwali

Diwali’s origins are rich with ancient legends:

Return of Lord Rama: Diwali commemorates Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile and his victory over Ravana. The people of Ayodhya welcomed him with lights and celebrations, a tradition that continues today.

Goddess Lakshmi’s Blessings: Diwali is also dedicated to worshiping Goddess Lakshmi, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. Homes are decorated and lit up to welcome her blessings.

Celebration by Jains and Sikhs: For Jains, Diwali marks the enlightenment of Lord Mahavira. Sikhs celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas, commemorating Guru Hargobind Ji’s release from imprisonment, symbolizing freedom and hope.

Narakasura’s Defeat: Diwali also includes the story of Lord Krishna’s victory over Narakasura, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.

Celebrations at Greenwood School

The celebrations at Greenwood School began with a beautiful transformation of the campus. The school premises were decorated with colorful rangolis, strings of lights, and traditional decorations, filling the atmosphere with festive joy.

Lakshmi Puja and Saraswati Devi Puja

A sacred Lakshmi and Saraswati puja was conducted to seek blessings for prosperity and wisdom. Students and staff participated in this spiritual ritual with devotion, singing hymns and offering prayers, which added a sacred dimension to the festivities.

Engaging Activities and Workshops

The school organized several activities to involve students creatively in the celebrations. Workshops on making Diwali cards, decorating diyas, and creating Diwali-themed artwork allowed students to express themselves artistically and deepen their connection with the festival. Traditional sweets were shared, spreading warmth and unity among all.

Fireworks Display

In the evening, a captivating fireworks display brought an extra sparkle to the celebration. Students and teachers gathered to enjoy the vibrant colors and excitement, celebrating the victory of light over darkness. The fireworks display was organized with utmost care, ensuring everyone’s safety.

Our respected Director, Sri.Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu, General Manager Sri A. Prabhu Kumar, Academic Principal Sri. VVV Naveen Kumar, Administrative Principal Sri. T. Students should observe and ask thoughtful questions to make the most of the experience. Keeping noise levels low allows everyone to focus and enjoy. Being punctual at meeting points demonstrates discipline. Carrying essentials like water, snacks, and a notebook ensures readiness. By acting responsibly, students can have a fun, educational trip while making a positive impression on others.

Historically, sports and games have been valued for their role in keeping people fit and strong. Ancient civilizations like Greece and Rome placed high importance on physical activities. The Greeks introduced the Olympic Games around 776 BC to celebrate the human body’s abilities, focusing on disciplines like running, wrestling, and javelin, which helped athletes become physically and mentally tough.

Today, sports and games remain popular because they provide people with a means to escape daily stress. Physical activities like running, swimming, and playing team sports allow people to disconnect from their routines, experience joy, and relax. For children and young people, sports promote healthy development.

Regular physical activity strengthens the muscles, enhances flexibility, and improves cardiovascular health. Young athletes tend to develop habits of fitness and discipline that can last a lifetime, while older people benefit from exercises that maintain strength, balance, and coordination. Even light sports like walking, yoga, or swimming are known to lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and boost overall well-being for people of all ages.

The young minds of Greenwood have participated in the ultimate challenge of Math quest on occasion of children’s day in our school premises on 14-Nov-24.

Maths quest is a competition where the students showcase their hidden talent towards maths. Mathematics has always been a subject that fascinates challenges and sometimes even not. But at the heart of maths lies a profound beauty, where logic patterns and structures converge.

The ultimate challenge is a journey that invites teachers, students and enthusiasts alike to push the boundaries of their knowledge and explore the richness of mathematics thought. This Math Quest represents the essence of challenges, problem-solving, pattern, recognition and critical thinking. Our beloved Dean of Academics Ch. Ravinder sir, Academic Advisor Rajeshwari ma’am, Vice Principal K. Srikanth sir and ACO K. Harsha Vardhan sir inaugurated the event. Then the talented participants took their seats on the stage.

The fire began with the visual round it is conducted by Mrs. Asma ma’am. Followed by error spotting round which was conducted by Mr. Ramaneedhar sir. Audience have taken an active part in this event by answering the audience questions and received chocolates. Cryptography round was conducted by Mrs. Ramya ma’am.

The most interesting round was puzzle round and was conducted by shri. Manga. Y ma’am. True or False round was conducted by Mrs. Poornima ma’am. The actual excitement and curiosity began with the rapid fire which was conducted by Mr. P. Mohan Reddy sir. The score was given by Mrs. Anusha ma’am. Everyone played well and gave their best, but one team stole the hearts and first place.

Children’s Day celebration 2024 – Hunter Road

“Every child is a different kind of flower and all together makes this world a beautiful garden.”

November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day or Bal Diwas every year in India. The special day is celebrated in remembrance of India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru.

The day focused on children and their enjoyment. Greenwood High School Hunter Road celebrated children’s day with a lot fun and enthusiasm. Students of classes 6th to 10thgathered in the ground to celebrate the event. The program started with an informative speech given on Chacha Nehru followed by different speeches about the special day. Children of classes 6 to 8 executed an exquisite classical dance performance on Aigiri Nandi which shows the power of different goddesses. Followed by a classic fusion performance. 

Students of different class and section came together to perform and make this day more memorable for all of us. Students did group dance on songs like Mauja Hi Mauja and Morni Banke.T he audience were supportive and showed great energy as the event was going on. Children were Happy Go Lucky throughout the event.

Teacher’s played their important role on this day as they prepared a special assembly including poem recitation, thought, general knowledge questions. Teachers from higher secondary school performed an amazing skit to bring out the joy and laughter The skits was a presentation of types of students in a classroom.

Winter is a season of noticeable change, bringing colder temperatures, shorter days, and unique adaptations for humans, animals, and birds alike. As winter sets in, the climate transforms dramatically, especially in colder regions. Snow may cover the ground, rivers and ponds may freeze, and chilly winds blow through the air. These changes require everyone—humans, animals, and birds—to adjust in order to survive and stay comfortable.

Winter changes the climate in many ways. The temperatures drop significantly, which is especially common in areas that experience snowfall. In some parts of the world, temperatures go below freezing, making water turn to ice. The days become shorter, while nights grow longer and colder. Cold winds make it feel even chillier than the actual temperature. These weather conditions also bring fog and frost, which reduce visibility and make travel challenging. Such changes require extra effort from all forms of life to adapt and stay warm.

Winter brings many changes to people’s daily routines. Clothing becomes thicker and warmer, as people wear jackets, sweaters, gloves, and scarves to keep warm. Households also prepare to keep the cold out, using heaters, hot water bottles, and even lighting fires in fireplaces. Food habits may change, too. Many people consume warm, nutritious foods and hot drinks like soup, tea, and coffee to keep their bodies warm. Schools and workplaces may adjust their schedules or encourage people to stay indoors during the coldest parts of the day.

However, winter also brings health challenges. Common colds, coughs, and even flu are frequent as the body becomes more vulnerable to infections. The elderly and children are particularly at risk and need extra care to stay healthy.

Animals and birds also experience significant changes during winter. Many animals, such as bears, hibernate to conserve energy during this season when food is scarce. They sleep for weeks, even months, without needing to eat or drink. Some animals, like rabbits and foxes, grow thicker fur coats to stay warm. Birds, on the other hand, often migrate to warmer regions, flying thousands of miles to find food and shelter. For birds and animals that stay put, finding food becomes a daily challenge. Many small creatures like squirrels store food in advance to survive the winter months.

Precautions for Children and Adults during Winter

To enjoy a safe and healthy winter, children and adults alike need to take certain precautions.

Dress in Layers: Wearing layers of warm clothing helps trap body heat. Woolen clothes, gloves, hats, and scarves protect against cold air and prevent heat from escaping.

Eat Nutritious Food: Hot and nutritious meals, rich in vitamins and minerals, help strengthen immunity. Warm drinks like soups, herbal teas, and hot milk are comforting and help keep the body warm.

Stay Active Indoors: While it’s tempting to stay cozy, staying active improves blood circulation and keeps the body warm. Simple indoor exercises can be great for both adults and children.

Practice Good Hygiene: Winter is flu season, so it’s important to wash hands frequently, avoid sharing personal items, and cover coughs and sneezes. This helps prevent the spread of colds and flu.

Protect Against Dry Skin: Winter air can dry out skin, so using a moisturizer is essential to avoid dry and cracked skin, especially for young children and elderly people.

We should be mindful of the fact that winter brings beauty and magic but also requires preparation and care. Celebrating Success and Values: Highlights from Greenwood, Hasanparthy’s Special 4th Nov, 2024 Assembly

Greenwood High School in Hasanparthy has cultivated a special Monday assembly tradition, which has become a cornerstone of the school’s values and spirit. Presided over by the school’s esteemed Director, Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu, these assemblies include the hoisting of the national flag, uplifting speeches, and the presentation of awards to commendable students.

On 4th November 2024, Greenwood High School held a special assembly to recognize student achievements and share important updates. The assembly featured key ceremonial elements and was graced by Director Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu, who was joined by Academic Principal Sri.V.V.V. Naveen Kumar, Administrative Principal Sri.T. Pavan Kumar, Vice-Principal Sri.V.Suresh Kumar, and Academic Coordinator Mrs. P. Kanthi.

 

The assembly began with the national song, followed by the flag hoisting ceremony led by Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu. This ritual, performed with the presence of school management, fostered a sense of pride and patriotism. After the flag hoisting, students joined together in singing the national anthem, setting an honorable tone for the proceedings.

The assembly activities were designed to engage and inspire students holistically. The ‘Thought of the Day,’ delivered by a student, provided a meaningful message to start the day. Following this, students shared updates on current events through the news reading segment, while a series of short speeches and presentations allowed students to showcase their public speaking skills and build confidence.

In an inspiring prize distribution ceremony, Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu awarded prizes to top achievers of recent competitions and assessments. Winners of the Maths Surprise Test – 6 and top performers from the 5th to 9th classes for Periodic Assessment – 2, along with the 10th class for Periodic Assessment – 3, were honored with High Achiever Award. The recognition of their hard work encouraged them to continue striving for excellence.

 

Dr. Bharadwaja Naidu addressed the students with a message centered on personal growth and respect for school values. He underscored the importance of using respectful language, reminding students that maintaining the school’s values is essential, and that any actions against these values would be addressed seriously.

 

Additionally, Dr. Naidu offered practical advice on self-care during the winter season, recommending the use of body lotions and lip balms to stay comfortable in the cold weather. He concluded his speech by emphasizing the need for academic focus and diligence, motivating students to prioritize their studies.

The Monday assembly ended on a high note, leaving students and staff inspired and united. Dr. G. Bharadwaja Naidu’s address not only motivated students to aim for academic and personal growth but also strengthened their connection to the school’s ethos. With over 1.2 billion Hindus worldwide, Diwali is celebrated across India and other countries with significant Hindu populations. India leads with approximately 94% of the global Hindu population, followed by Nepal (81%), Bangladesh (8%), Indonesia (1.7%), and Pakistan (1.85%). Each country brings its unique cultural flavor to Diwali. In India, celebrations span five days, with homes lit by Diyas, adorned with Rangoli, and filled with family gatherings, prayers, and fireworks.

Nepal’s Tihar, a variation of Diwali, includes honoring animals like cows and dogs as symbols of prosperity and loyalty. Indonesian Hindus, primarily in Bali, celebrate with temple rituals and traditional dances, emphasizing community and devotion. In Bangladesh and Pakistan, Diwali is observed more modestly, with prayers, lamps, and family gatherings, showing that while the traditions vary, the spirit of Diwali remains united in honoring light and hope.

In India, amid this joy, Diwali also highlights an irony in our approach to environmental concerns. Pollution from vehicles, factories, and other sources affects the air we breathe year-round, yet heightened concern often surfaces only around festivals like Diwali. Firecrackers, while briefly increasing pollution, are criticized more than the steady pollutants that impact air quality daily. In cities like Delhi, where pollution levels can double during Diwali, this momentary focus on firecrackers overshadows the need for consistent environmental awareness year-round. This selective concern reflects a contradiction—emphasizing environmental protection primarily during festivals, rather than addressing the persistent pollutants that affect our health daily.

In contrast, Hindu communities worldwide are adopting more sustainable Diwali practices. For example, in Bali, Indonesian Hindus celebrate with an emphasis on simplicity, focusing on lamps, prayers, and floral decorations, without the pollution linked to firecrackers. This approach highlights a meaningful way to honor Diwali’s spirit without compromising environmental responsibility.

At its heart, Diwali is a celebration of light, unity, and renewal. By choosing eco-friendly practices, we honor these values while contributing to the health of our communities and the planet.

The CBSE National Science Challenge is a prestigious initiative that promotes curiosity and higher-order thinking among students in classes 8 to 10 across CBSE-affiliated schools. With over 27,000 CBSE schools across India, this challenge draws participation from an estimated 100,000 students nationwide, creating an incredibly competitive environment. Focused on science, environment, and sustainability, the challenge comprises two rounds: an initial intra-school round followed by an inter-school competition.

Schools begin by registering students on the CBSE Science Challenge Portal, ensuring every eligible student has the opportunity to participate. The first round is organized within schools, assessing students through timed, accuracy-based MCQs, after which the best six students—two from each class—proceed to the inter-school stage.

This process provides a rich learning environment that aligns with CBSE’s mission to strengthen scientific engagement among young learners, making the Science Challenge an essential step in fostering a well-rounded education.

Earning a place among the top 50 in the National Science Challenge is an extraordinary accomplishment that fills us with immense pride, especially considering the scale of the competition. The event, which took place at the Greenwood Art Club, featured 29 talented student artists from classes 6 to 10, all members of the school’s art club. These young artists had the unique opportunity to express their creative visions through their choice of themes and styles, making the event a vibrant showcase of student talent.

The canvas painting event was designed to encourage freedom of artistic expression, allowing each student to select a theme that resonated with them personally. On the evening of 2nd October 2024, Greenwood High School, Hasanparthy, was filled with festive spirit as students and staff, came together to celebrate the colorful and culturally significant Bathukamma Festival. The school campus was filled with excitement as this traditional floral festival of Telangana was celebrated with unity, creativity, and devotion.

The event was graced by the presence of our esteemed Director, Sri. Dr. Sri Girrem Bharadwaja Naidu, who served as the chief guest, his warm and inspiring words set the celebration in motion, reminding the gathering of the deep cultural and spiritual significance of Bathukamma.

Bathukamma, which means ‘Mother Goddess Come Alive,’ is celebrated across Telangana as a tribute to the feminine energy symbolized by Goddess Gauramma. Over nine days, women create beautiful flower stacks to honor the goddess, marking the arrival of Sharath Ruthu (autumn).

A Grand Floral Celebration:
One of the most striking parts of the celebration was the creation of the Bathukamma flower stacks by the students. Using a vibrant variety of local seasonal flowers, students crafted intricate floral arrangements that reflected both their creativity and the essence of the festival. These flower stacks, shaped like small temple towers, brought the spirit of Bathukamma alive on the school grounds.

Engagement and Participation:
The active and enthusiastic participation of our Director, joined the students in singing traditional Bathukamma songs, set a joyful and celebratory tone for the event. He encouraged the students to understand the deeper cultural importance of such traditions, emphasizing that festivals like Bathukamma are a link between our heritage and future.

As a part of the Swachhata Hi Seva program held under the aegis of the Ministry of Public Health, the NCC cadets of Greenwood had an awareness rally taken over the residential colony nearby.

They interacted with the residents and spread the message of Cleanliness is next to Godliness.
A clean environment would help in having a better quality of life for one and all.
Thus they stressed on the Do’s and Don’ts.

Everyone needs to avoid plastics, avoid the various forms of pollution and need to keep the environment clean.
