The event provided a wonderful opportunity for students, parents, and staff to explore a diverse collection of books spanning various genres and age groups.
The Book Fair saw enthusiastic participation, with a large number of parents and students browsing and purchasing books. Beyond promoting a love for reading, the event fostered a strong sense of community as families came together to support literacy.
Many parents shared their excitement, expressing how the fair helped them discover new titles for their children while nurturing their passion for reading. Students were equally delightedโsome found their favorite book series, while others discovered new ones they were eager to explore.

Greenwood High School organized an engaging spelling competition titled Spell Combat for the students of Class 6 on 27th January 2025 and Class 7 on 30th January 2025.
The competition tested the linguistic and subject-specific vocabulary of the participants, featuring 60 challenging words drawn from six disciplines: Telugu, Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
This initiative aimed to enhance studentsโ spelling proficiency, broaden their subject knowledge, and build their confidence in language and academic vocabulary. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and highlighted the studentsโ dedication and preparation. It served as a platform for fostering a love for words and learning across diverse subjects.

Hunter Road, January 29, 2025 โ Greenwood High School hosted a lively and informative Mock Parliament Session, offering students an invaluable opportunity to engage in the workings of a democratic system. The Chief Guest, Sri. V.V. Lakshminarayana, delivered a remarkable and thought-provoking speech that left a lasting impression on everyone present. As he took the stage, he nostalgically reminisced about his childhood upon seeing the Greenwood campus, evoking heartfelt memories and a sense of connection to the students. He expressed his joy at sharing the stage with 95-year-old Sri.G. Yellapa Naidu, a personality with a wealth of life experience, whose presence added depth to the occasion.
The Chief Guest, Sri V.V. Lakshminarayana, began his speech with the enthusiastic slogan “Bharat Mata ki Jay!” He then engaged the students by asking, โWho is Bharat Mata?โ prompting a variety of responses, including that it is an allegorical name. He explained that Bharat Mata represents the people of our country and urged everyone to work diligently for Indiaโs development. He envisioned a future where, instead of Indians seeking jobs abroad, people from around the world would come to India for opportunities, proudly wearing our countryโs name and flag with honor. This stirring beginning set the tone for his inspiring and thought-provoking address.
In his speech, Sri. V.V. Lakshminarayana encouraged the students to embrace the power of curiosity and introspection by consistently asking themselves three pivotal questions: Why, What, and How. He illustrated how these questions have been the foundation for the inception of many globally renowned companies, inspiring students to think critically and innovatively. Furthermore, he emphasized the collective responsibility of making India a great nation. Drawing from his observations of educational systems in various countries, he shared actionable insights on how students could contribute to this mission.
To stimulate mental sharpness and enhance focus, he recommended simple yet impactful activities such as performing 21 sit-ups daily, listening to the chimes of temple bells, and engaging in reverse counting from 100 to 1. These, he explained, are effective ways to activate the brain and improve cognitive abilities.
Sri. V.V. Lakshminarayana also encouraged students to set three ambitious yet meaningful goals for their lives:

When the student replied โNo,โ he advised approaching studies with similar interest and enjoyment, turning learning into a joyful experience. He also encouraged students to actively engage in experiments to enhance their understanding. This insightful session was highly inspiring and left a profound impact on everyone present.

The cultural program commenced with a speech in Telugu by Manihasan of Satish Dhawan, who eloquently expressed the significance of Republic Day. SANKRANTI is a traditional Indian festival, also known as Makar Sankranti, celebrated on the 14th of January every year.
At GREENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL, we celebrated Sankranti by hosting special events where students learned about the cultural and traditional significance of the festival.
The event featured a variety of activities, including a Rangoli Competition for the parents of Nursery to Grade 2 students. Students also participated in traditional dances, performed to folk songs, and delivered speeches in different languages.
As part of the celebrations, students were blessed on this joyous occasion with Bhogi Pallu by dignitaries, teachers, and parents. Additionally, parents received gifts for their participation in the Rangoli Competition.

The much-anticipated Inter-House Quiz Competition (Juniors) for the academic year 2024 was successfully conducted on 6th December 2024 (Friday) from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the open auditorium. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and an engaged audience comprising students, teachers, and parents.
Preliminary Test and Selection Process
The preliminary test, held on 14th November 2024 (Thursday), marked the beginning of the competition. It was conducted for students of Classes VII and VIII, with a set of 25 questions covering diverse topics such as current affairs, science, sports, geography, history, literature, and entertainment. The test lasted 30 minutes, from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and was designed to evaluate the knowledge and quick thinking of the participants.
Based on the results, a total of 16 students, four from each houseโBrahmos, Trishul, Agni, and Prithviโwere selected to represent their respective houses in the final quiz.

Rangoli making is a beautiful art form that involves creating intricate patterns using various materials such as powdered lime, red ochre, rice flour, colored sand, quartz powder, flower petals, colored rocks, and glitters. This traditional practice is an integral part of Indian culture, especially during festivals like Diwali, Tihar, Onam, Pongal, and Sankranthi. Rangoli designs are often passed down through generations, preserving the cultural legacy and connecting families.
Role of Rangoli During Sankranthi
Sankranthi, also known as Makar Sankranti, is a major harvest festival celebrated across India. During this festival, Rangoli plays a significant role in welcoming prosperity and happiness into homes. The vibrant designs are created at the entrance of houses to invite positive energy and ward off evil spirits. Rangoli patterns during Sankranthi often depict symbols of abundance, such as grains, flowers, and traditional motifs, reflecting the joy and gratitude of the harvest season.
The Rangoli competitionโs seamless execution was made possible by the unwavering support and guidance of Greenwoodโs leadership team, including Director Sri. Dr. G. On January 3, 2025, Greenwood High School in Hasanparthy hosted a vibrant Mehndi competition for girls in grades 7 to 10 in celebration of the upcoming Sankranti Festival. Mehndi, also known as henna, is a paste made from the henna plant and is used for temporary body art. It is believed to bring positive vibes and good luck. The competition aimed to help students explore traditional values, express their artistic talents, and showcase their creativity through various Mehndi designs.
Mehndi holds a special place in Indian culture, blending medicinal properties with deep-seated sentiments and beliefs. The deeper the color of the Mehndi, the stronger the love and bond it symbolizes. The competition was not just about assessing drawing skills but also about appreciating creativity and unique expression, contributing to the overall personality development of the students.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from 35 students, who crafted intricate designs based on diverse themes. While some designs were rooted in tradition, others showcased modern and trendy interpretations. The school grounds were adorned with colorful decorations, creating a festive and celebratory atmosphere.

The celebrations began with a warm welcome extended by our Principal, Ms. Kavita Chawla, and the pre-primary students, setting the tone for the day’s events. The traditional Bogi Pannlu ceremony marked the beginning of the festival, where young students actively participated in this customary ritual. Director Sir delivered an inspiring message to the students, emphasizing the importance of preserving traditions and cherishing the essence of the harvest festival.

The day began with the inauguration ceremony, which was graced by our beloved Director, Mr. Aakarsh. His inspiring words set the tone for the day, motivating everyone to participate with zeal and energy. Let us all thank him for his support and encouragement.
The first event of the day was the March Past, a perfect display of discipline and unity. Students from various houses marched to the beats of the drum, showcasing their synchronization and teamwork. Their coordinated steps and confident demeanor reflected the hard work and dedication they put into their preparation. It was truly a sight to behold and an excellent way to kick start the Sports Carnival.
Following this, the Drill with Hula Hoops performed by our energetic and talented primary students left everyone spellbound. The students demonstrated their coordination and precision by spinning and twirling their hoops gracefully, creating mesmerizing patterns. This drill highlighted the importance of fitness and the joy of engaging in physical activities.
Next came the adorable Pre-Primary Drill, where our youngest participants displayed their enthusiasm and energy. Their charming performances filled the atmosphere with cheer and excitement, proving that even the little ones have what it takes to shine on the sports field.
The games began with the Pre-Primary Games, where our youngest athletes participated in fun-filled events. The Running Race showcased their speed and determination as they raced to the finish line. In the Cone Balance, the participants carefully balanced cones while making their way to the finish, demonstrating focus and steady hands. The Zigzag Race tested their agility as they navigated through a zigzag course, much to the delight of the audience.
Moving on to the Primary Games, our older students competed in a variety of exciting events. The Running Race tested their speed and endurance, and the 4ร100 Relay Running Race highlighted teamwork and precision as students passed the baton seamlessly. The Dodge Ball event was filled with strategy and quick reflexes, keeping everyone on their toes. The traditional Indian game of Kho Kho showcased speed, strategy, and teamwork, drawing loud cheers from the spectators. The Skipping Race tested stamina and coordination, as students skipped their way to the finish line, while the Cone Balance event challenged their focus and steadiness.
As we enjoy these events, let us remember that the true essence of sports lies in participation, effort, and the joy of playing. Winning is important, but the lessons learned and memories created on the field are even more valuable.

The event was anchored by Sushrutha and Nithya from grade 8th (Kalogi). The celebrations began as all the children and staff gathered in the ground, where a beautifully decorated home, glowing with twinkling lights, garlands and a sparkling Christmas tree ๐ adorned with ornaments, ribbons and Star on top.

A Frosty Morning: The carnival began on a cool, frosty morning with the opening ceremony. The dayโs announcements began with the statement: โSports Day teaches discipline. Good morning, ABHYAAS!โ
Welcoming Dignitaries: The honourable Principal, Vice Principal, Administrative Officer, and Coordinators were warmly welcomed onto the dais.
Flag Hoisting: The Principal hoisted the ABHYAAS Sports Flag, followed by the National Song, School Song, and a well-synchronized march past. The march past salutation was respectfully received by the Principal.
Oath-Taking Ceremony: The Games SPL led the oath, which was echoed by the entire school, promising to obey the rules of the games.
Torch Run Ceremony: A mesmerizing torch run began with the Principal lighting the torch. It was passed to the Games SPL, then to the School SPL, and finally to the four House Captains. During the run, the announcement rang out: โKeep striving, keep winning.โ โWe wish everyone an enjoyable time!โ
Declaration Speech: The Principal declared the Sports Meet open, accompanied by a resounding applause and the release of colorful balloons into the sky.
House Captains inspired their teams with messages to remain honest and follow the rules. The carnival grounds, adorned with students dressed in vibrant colors from nursery to Class X, resembled a rainbow scattering its hues on the field.
