Bullying, an Intolerable Hazard

Founder’s Pen ( Sunday )

This week, I would like to address a matter of great concern – bullying within school premises. Fortunately, we do not face this problem in any of our Greenwood Schools. Still, I feel compelled to pen these few words that may be of great help to one and all in case of need.

Bullying is a grave issue that not only affects the immediate well-being of the victims but also has long-lasting impacts on their emotional, psychological, and academic development.

Bullying takes various forms, from physical to verbal, and now even in the digital realm. So, recognizing signs of bullying is crucial – look for changes in behavior, reluctance to attend school, unexplained injuries, or a drop in academic performance.

Once identified, it’s essential to handle bullying with sensitivity and utmost care. Open communication channels are the key – encourage students to confide in parents, teachers, or counsellors. Educate them about the difference between tattling and seeking help.

As responsible educators and parents, it is our duty to create an environment that is safe, inclusive, and free from fear for our children wherever they are.

I would like to reiterate the fact that parents’ involvement is crucial. Monitor your child’s behavior and encourage positive interactions. Together, we can create an environment where bullying has no place, and our children can grow with confidence and compassion.

Thank you for your unwavering support in all our endeavours.

Independence Day is the time when Indians remember and honour the freedom fighters and their sacrifices.

India became a free land on August 15, 1947, and was relieved from the reigns of 200-old British rule. This day is significant as India began its independent journey away from the laborious British rule and became a democratic sovereign nation.

On this day, the Tri-colour is hoisted across the nation, at homes, and commercial locations and the national anthem is recited.

We at Abhyaas the global school have celebrated this august occasion with great pomp and splendor. Dr. Shiva Shankar Adavaraju, a leading orthopedic in Bhimavaram town, has graciously agreed to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The celebration began with Mrs Prabha singing a special prayer song followed by the National Song.

The honorable chief guest unfurled the tri-colour and reviewed the march past. Both the Principal and the Chief Guest spoke on the occasion giving necessary guidelines to the youth.

Little Abhyaasians, gaily dressed up in resemblance to our great freedom fighters lined up the dais.

Three bewitching girls from Grades V and II have captured the hearts with their performance by dancing to the tune of ‘Yetthara Janda’

Girls of Grade X kept us tapping our feet as they danced gaily to the tune of Mash Up song.

Girls of Grade IX and X danced gracefully saying Desam Manade.

Four boys of Grade X performed a trick with four chairs, mesmerizing the audience by balancing themselves without any support.

Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath and mind. Nimble boys of Grade VI gave a graceful performance of yogasanas showcasing their supple bodies.

Energetic boys and girls of Grades 4, 6 and 7 displayed their perfect motor skills with their dumbbells.

But our celebration is not limited to decorations alone. Our students have prepared an array of cultural displays showcasing the diversity of our country. From traditional dances to folk music performances, these displays remind us of the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our nation.

To kick off our celebration, our talented students presented a series of dance performances that depicted various aspects of our nation’s history and cultural diversity. Through graceful movements and vibrant costumes, they transported us back in time and across regions, showcasing the unity in diversity that defines our country.

Parents Role

Parents play a pivotal role in shaping the character and moral compass of their children. From the earliest stages of development, parents serve as role models and guides, instilling values, beliefs, and behaviors that lay the foundation for a child’s character.

First and foremost, parents model behaviors and attitudes that children observe and emulate. Children learn empathy, kindness, honesty, and resilience by observing how their parents interact with others and handle challenges. Parents who demonstrate respect for others and show compassion create an environment conducive to character development.

Furthermore, communication is vital in character building. Open and meaningful conversations between parents and children allow for discussions on ethical dilemmas, decision-making, and personal values. Parents can encourage critical thinking and empathy by engaging in these discussions and fostering a safe space for their children to express their thoughts.

Discipline and boundaries also contribute to character formation. Consistent and fair discipline teaches children about responsibility, accountability, and the consequences of their actions. Setting boundaries helps children understand the importance of respecting rules and the rights of others.

Additionally, parents can expose their children to diverse experiences and perspectives, broadening their horizons and promoting tolerance and understanding. Encouraging involvement in community service or volunteering cultivates a sense of social responsibility and compassion for others.

Thus, parents are the primary architects of their children’s character. Through their words, actions, guidance, and support, parents mold the moral and ethical framework that shapes the individuals their children become. It is a profound responsibility that, when undertaken thoughtfully and consistently, contributes to the betterment of both the child and society at large.
